Do You Know For Sure? Tract
Friday May 24, 2024
Friday May 24, 2024
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
If you’ve seen someone leave a Gospel tract in a restaurant or hand one to a stranger walking by, have you ever thought, "I wonder if they’ll read it?” I’d like to suggest that our first and best response should be to ask the Holy Spirit to compel the person to read it as He did with Philip. Philip was sitting on a park bench talking on his phone when someone walked by and handed him a Gospel tract. The Holy Spirit prompted Philip to open it. So he did, and he read the whole thing. Romans 3:23 jumped off the page, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord.” Philip was convicted, and he repented. Now, it just so happened that he read EE’s Do You Know For Sure? tract. Philip has since ordered them and started a tract ministry. Tract Evangelism
Thursday May 23, 2024
Thursday May 23, 2024
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Should we still use tracts for evangelism? As I walked toward the meeting hall at a conference, I saw one of the security guards sitting and reading our “Do You Know For Sure” tract. I went over and asked him, "Do you understand what you’re reading?” And he said, "How can I unless someone explains it to me?” Immediately, I thought of the story of the Ethiopian eunuch when he met Philip on the road to Gaza. And just like the Bible story, this security guard listened carefully to the Gospel and gave his heart to Jesus Christ right there. And recently, we held a workshop to teach Christians how to share their faith, which they went out and did that very day! A few days later, a man called to tell us that he had made a decision to put his trust in Jesus through a tract that a team left with him. Tracts can be a great tool for us use to share our faith. Where Do All Those Tracts Go?
Wednesday May 22, 2024
Wednesday May 22, 2024
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
You know, I’ve heard people say that tracts don’t work anymore. They say that they’re a thing of the past. Well, don’t tell that to Dr. Varga. You see, more than a decade ago, a stranger handed her a tract – one of our tracts, to be precise. The tract prompted her curiosity. She read it, discovered the free gift of eternal life, and trusted Jesus Christ as her Savior! Well, years later, she purchases those tracts a thousand at a time in order to share, in her words, “the beautiful message which she received with as many people as she can.” You know, sometimes we’re able to go through the tract with the person we’re sharing with, while other times there’s only enough time to say, "The message in this booklet changed my life, and I think it can change yours too.” Either way, why not give tract evangelism a try? Do Tracts Work?
Tuesday May 21, 2024
Tuesday May 21, 2024
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Some people criticize tract evangelism, saying that it’s cold, impersonal, or even outdated. But the truth is, it works. Dale and George worshipped at the same church. And following the service, Dale gave George a Gospel tract, thinking that George could use the tract to evangelize. George took it home with him, but instead of sharing it with a friend or a family member, he read it intently. It struck him like a lightning bolt; “I’m not saved!” He read it to his wife, and they knelt and made professions of faith in Christ. Today, George and his wife, Joan, are two bold witnesses for Christ. Dale intended for George to introduce the tract to a friend. Instead, God introduced George and Joan to Jesus. Tracts, in fact, work. So don’t hesitate to use them! Don’t have any on you? What’s In A Tract
Monday May 20, 2024
Monday May 20, 2024
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
You know, it’s unthinkable. It’s February 1975, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. You leave a Gospel tract with a young gas station attendant you come across while you’re filling your tank. He takes the tract, shoves you, gives you an earful; and while you’re stammering for words, he walks away. Now, if you’re someone who likes to hand out Gospel tracts, you’ve probably never had an experience quite like that, but I’ll bet you’ve still wondered if the people you give these tracts to actually read them or they toss them. Hey, we all have. In fact, some people will argue that Gospel tracts simply don’t work. But let’s get back to the young gas station attendant. His name is Jeff, and forty years later, he reaches out to us to find the person who gave him that Gospel tract. Through it, he accepted Jesus as His Savior, and his life was forever changed. Your Story
Friday May 17, 2024
Friday May 17, 2024
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Do you realize that God has given you a story to tell? We often refer to it as a testimony, but I prefer to call it “your story.” If you have trusted in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, your story of how God saved you and changed you counts. I hope that’s obvious to you. But as I travel the world, I’m often amazed at how many Christians don’t think their story counts for much of anything. I hope you’re not one of those people who thinks their story is lackluster or “no big deal” because that just doesn’t line up with Scripture. In Revelation 12, verse 11, it says, “And they have defeated him (meaning Satan) by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony.” According to that verse, your testimony is an incredibly valuable and powerful witnessing tool. When’s the last time you shared it with someone? If you need help preparing your story, we have a free testimony-building tool that I encourage you to check out. Just visit www.sharelife.today.

Use Words
Thursday May 16, 2024
Thursday May 16, 2024
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
"Preach the Gospel at all times; when necessary, use words.” Now, I've heard this famous quote over the years, and frankly it's silly if you think about it. In fact, I've seen this not work in my own life. When I lived in Nebraska, I had a neighbor I was good friends with. I did all sort of nice things for him, hoping he would see the way I lived was for Jesus. But if I would've died, Bill would have thought, “Wow, John was a really nice guy. I wish I could be more like John." And that wasn't the message I was trying to get across at all!! Saving faith is made up of knowledge, assent, and trust. And in order to know the Gospel, someone has to share it with you; and then you can agree with it and then put your trust in it. So, let's be encouraged to communicate the Gospel with others using words! For more on how you can be active in sharing your faith, visit our website at www.sharelife.today. Divine Appointments
Wednesday May 15, 2024
Wednesday May 15, 2024
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
The Holy Spirit is softening and drawing hearts to Himself each and every day. And we can be a part of His work. One of the very best ways to join the Holy Spirit is by praying for what we like to call “Divine Appointments.” I can’t tell you how many times He has led me a person who was waiting for someone to share the Gospel with them. In Arizona, I met a twenty-one-year-old named Raymond who was waiting at a bus stop. He told me that he was in a recovery program that talked about God but hadn’t shared much about Him. Raymond was sitting there wondering how he could find out more when we walked up. With tears in his eyes, he accepted Christ after hearing the Gospel and said, “Thank you! This is going to change my life.” So I encourage you to start praying for opportunities to share your faith and watch God do amazing things. For more on sharing the Gospel, visit www.sharelife.today. Be Intentional
Tuesday May 14, 2024
Tuesday May 14, 2024
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Picture yourself in heaven with the glory of God before you. Every person is there for the judgement. You look across the crowd and see one of your closest friends there. You know they haven't made a personal decision to follow Christ. Now I don't know about you, but for me there is literally nothing that anyone could say to me that would be harder to hear than these words, "Why didn't you tell me? I thought we were friends..."
So, now we try. That doesn't mean it’s easy! Sometimes it's a real struggle to find a way to share with our neighbors. But our question if the week is this: What can we do to share Jesus with our neighbors? And the answer is ultimately a simple one: Be intentional. Share the Gospel with them. But just because it's simple, doesn't mean that it's not hard. However, it is the fulfillment of what Christ told us when He said that we should love our neighbor as ourselves. Respond with Jesus
Monday May 13, 2024
Monday May 13, 2024
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Do you ever get nervous about sharing the Gospel? Well by getting prepared with a few simple tips, we can speak the Gospel with confidence! One of today's tips is to address questions. Even though we may hear difficult questions in a spiritual conversation, we don’t need to fear them. Answer them as quickly as possible, and then return the focus to the Gospel. Now here’s the thing…if you don’t know the answer, be honest; let them know you will find out. And remember to always return with an answer if you promise to do so. And after either answering their questions or promising to do so, share the Gospel with them. And be ready to lead them in taking the next step of receiving the free gift of eternal life. Because the truth is, when you share your faith, people will respond. Explain that what they must do is place their trust in Jesus Christ alone. Now let's put this tip into practice and share our faith! Learn more at www.sharelife.today.
