Where is Your Hope?

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
What are you placing your hope in right now? Your investments, your job, your family? You know, all of those things may provide some comfort in the short term, but there is only one lasting hope that we can count on, and that is the Person of Jesus Christ. Take Kenny, for example. He shared his testimony with us on whats my story dot org about how Jesus changed his life. He said, "I was filled with bitterness. My life was a complete ruin. In the midst of this, a friend I had just met invited me to church. For the first time, I heard that even though I didn’t deserve it and in spite of anything I’d done, I could be forgiven and inherit eternal life. That night, I received[...]hope in the midst of hopelessness!” That can be our story as well! All we must do is place our trust in Jesus and Him alone, the Author of our hope. Story of Hope

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
How much are you watching the news right now? I know a lot of people have stopped watching altogether because it's just too depressing some days. But did you know that many today are living without hope. But here's some good news: The Bible says that, “God so loved the world that He gave is only Begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have everlasting life.” The wages of our sins is death, but on Christmas Day, over two thousand years ago, a gift was given to us. Hope was born. His name is Jesus, and He is Christ the Lord. God Himself came dwell with us as a human and lived a perfect life we couldn’t. He then died a cross as the needed sacrifice to pay for our sins. And now, He offers us the free gift of eternal life. And all we have to do is place our faith in Him and Him alone. Now, this is hope! For more on the Gospel, visit our website at www.sharelife.today.

How Is Your Hope Doing Today?

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
I have a rather strange question for you this Christmas season: How is your hope doing? Well, over the past few years, we’ve been through some really rough times. It’s possible that you’re doing ok. But it is also possible you're just hanging on, hoping for hope. Well, here's the thing: Hope is so vital. William Carey, the father of the modern mission movement, said, “Without hope, it’s impossible to carry on any great movement indefinitely." But how do we get hope? And how do we keep it? Well, the truth is everlasting hope came on Christmas. His name is Jesus. After He started His ministry here on earth, Jesus told his troubled disciples who were worried about the future, “I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life…Don’t let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me.” When we place our trust in Jesus, we receive a new life of hope in Him. For more on the hope of the Gospel, visit our website at www.sharelife.today. The Promise of Hope

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Did you know that God promises you hope? In Romans 8:39 the Bible tells us that, "Neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus." Here’s the truth: when we place our trust in Jesus and Him alone, He is always with us. He never leaves us or forsakes us. Ever since that first Christmas that God Himself stepped onto this earth, born as a baby in Bethlehem, our hope was manifest in Jesus. He came, he lived a perfect life, He died on the cross in our place, and rose again, and is in Heaven now offering us new life. And it is this new life that becomes the fountain of hope within us. But here’s the question: do you have this hope? For more on the Gospel and how you can share it’s hope with others, visit our website at www.sharelife.today. That’s www.sharelife.today.

Ol’ Saint Nick

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Have you ever heard the true story of Ol' Saint Nick? We know him well as the fabled "Santa Claus," but Saint Nickolas was actually a real person. And he loved Jesus and he had a special place in his heart the poor. He lived and served in the area of the world now known as Turkey during the time of the Roman Empire. And after becoming a priest, Saint Nickolas devoted his life to helping the least fortunate of the communities he traveled through. It is well documented that he distributed gifts to needy children and served the impoverished his whole life. He served because he followed a God who deeply cares about people—especially the poor, orphaned, and widowed. As we too are encouraged this Christmas season to serve others, let's also share the reason we serve and follow Jesus—the Good News of the Gospel. Let's share this hope with those around us! Sharing Peace

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given,[...]and he shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Our Savior, Jesus, brought us peace. Peace between us and God, peace between us and our fellow men, peace in our souls. As we talk about children and Christmas this week, I'd like share with you about the children of the church who have accepted this Prince of Peace as their Savior and have learned to share what He did on the cross for them with others. We have a program called Hope for Kids where children learn key Gospel points and Scriptures, and we’ve seen amazing things happen from these little hearts on fire for God. In fact, they’re literally changing the world for Christ! These children have shared the Gospel with millions of their friends and have spread the hope of Jesus. Join them in sharing the peace found only in Christ by visiting us at www.sharelife.today. That's www.sharelife.today.

Let The Children Come
Wednesday Dec 04, 2024
Wednesday Dec 04, 2024
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Have you ever seen the face of a child on Christmas morning? The joy that fills their eyes is absolutely contagious. In Luke 18, we read where Jesus rebukes his disciples and tells them to let the children come to him. Can you imagine the scene? The disciples were probably feeling a bit annoyed by these pesky little children trying to get a peek at Jesus. Peter might have even said something like, "Back away; we've got important things to do." But Jesus says, "Let the children come." At that moment, the disciples had to release all the children so they could push in and get close to Jesus. I'm sure they would have had the same joyous look in their eyes as I see children have on Christmas morning. This Christmas, let's remember the reason why we celebrate and let's also remember to let the children come to Jesus by sharing the most important gift of all with them, the free gift of salvation. Children and Gifts
Tuesday Dec 03, 2024
Tuesday Dec 03, 2024
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
What’s the best gift you've ever received? As you think about your answer, also consider how you felt when you received it. Did you gasp in excitement? Yell at the top of your lungs? Maybe even shed a tear or two? Well, that overwhelming happiness you felt in that moment is the same joy I see on every face that places their trust in Jesus alone. I remember a big, burly truck driver in Omaha, Nebraska literally weeping in gratitude to God as he knelt and prayed to receive Jesus as his Lord and Savior. And like a little child who opens the best gift ever on Christmas morning, people are filled with gratitude when they receive the free gift of eternal life. And guess what the most exciting part of all of this is?! We are the ones that have the opportunity (and the privilege!) to share this news with them. So let's go out and give those around us the best gift ever! To learn how, visit www.sharelife.today.

Peace on Earth
Monday Dec 02, 2024
Monday Dec 02, 2024
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
“Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” I'm sure you've heard those words before. The angels sang them as a great host in front of the shepherds, who stood terrified and in awe. And truly, that peace on earth that they mentioned is what most people strive to find this time of year. And there are many who get discouraged because they experience a lack of joy, hope, and peace. Well, let me urge you today to adopt the perspective of a child. What are children like at Christmas-time? Well, they enjoy the presence of their family and trust in their support and provision. When we receive the free gift of eternal life, we’re adopted into the family of God; and the Holy Spirit dwells in us. We can have the security, excitement, and hope for the future that comes from knowing that God is always with us. So who can you share that hope of Jesus with this Christmas season? For more, visit share life dot today.

Thankful Every Day
Friday Nov 29, 2024
Friday Nov 29, 2024
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
So Thanksgiving is now over, and we move on to a new season...but did you know that our gratitude should continue? You can know from even a simple search online how being thankful each day can benefit us both mentally and physically. But that's not what I'm talking about. As Christians, we're thankful each and every day because God doesn’t change. Whether it's Thanksgiving where we're focused on being grateful for how He has provided for us or the week after where we go back to our "normal" way of life, we should be grateful. Because you know what? God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow—and His love for us continues each new day. And we can share our gratitude with others by telling them what Jesus has done for them on the cross! So let's make it a priority to be thankful each and every day.
