Pray the Word
Friday Jan 17, 2025
Friday Jan 17, 2025
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Jesus was hungry. He had been in the wilderness for forty days without eating a single thing. At the height of His physical weakness, the enemy crept close to Him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” That was the first of three temptations Jesus fought against that day. But He answered confidently with the Scripture, "It is written: ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but on every word that comes out of the mouth of God.'" Jesus was victorious by knowing the Word of God and hiding it in His heart. So let me encourage you today—make a habit in your life to memorize Scripture and then pray them. The Bible is living and breathing and active in our lives. And it doesn't just change our lives, it can be used to change the lives of those around us! Hide God's Word in your heart. Join in Prayer
Thursday Jan 16, 2025
Thursday Jan 16, 2025
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
In the book of Ephesians, we read, "And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people." So let us not neglect praying for our brothers and sisters all around the world. They’re fighting for their faith on their knees; and often, both their lives and livelihoods are in jeopardy simply for following Christ. So how can we join them in prayer? Well firstly, we should pray for their safety as they worship and share the Gospel in cultures that discriminate against them for their faith. Secondly, we should pray for resources, as many of our brothers and sisters face poverty, hunger, and disease. And thirdly, we should pray for perseverance—that even despite what they face that they continue to grow in their walks with Christ and share it with others who need the same hope. Want specific requests you can pray for? Visit our website and sign up as a prayer partner at sharelife.today.

Praying for Others
Wednesday Jan 15, 2025
Wednesday Jan 15, 2025
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
There is a power in agreement when we pray in Jesus’ name. Christ said in Matthew 18, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I with them.” And later, His disciple John wrote, "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us." Praying with others powerfully effects both us and the person we’re praying with, as we seek God's will in our lives. It's also a great way to open the door to a spiritual conversation. I ask waiters, cab drivers, and store clerks all over the world how I can pray for them, and almost all of them give me their requests. I then offer to go before God right then and there if they are able to join me. This has started many Gospel conversations that God has used to bring men and women into His family. So let me encourage you today—ask someone how you can pray with them. And then take the time do it. Learn more at sharelife.today.

Preparing With Prayer
Tuesday Jan 14, 2025
Tuesday Jan 14, 2025
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
We often say, at EE, that witnessing without prayer is presumption. The truth is, we cannot effectively share Jesus with others unless we begin with prayer. Prayer invites the Holy Spirit to go with us and to lead the conversation. He’s the One who gives us the words to say. He’s the One who speaks to and ultimately changes hearts. Without Him, we go alone. So as we talk about preparing to share the Gospel this week, I want you to know that preparation begins with prayer. The Bible says in first John that "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us." Is it God's will for people to hear the Good News of the Gospel? Well, you bet! So let's begin to pray and ask the Holy Spirit for guidance and opportunities to share. And let's get prepared! The Power of Prayer
Monday Jan 13, 2025
Monday Jan 13, 2025
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Did you know there is great power in prayer? That might be something you've heard of, but knowing this is not enough...we actually have to experience it! The power of prayer is that our strong and loving Heavenly Father listens to us and responds! It is so vital in our relationship with Him to actually communicate. Jesus knew the importance found in seeking the Father. In Luke 5:16, the Bible says that "Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed." Christ Himself needed a break from the demands of His busy life to recharge and spend time with His Father. When we follow Jesus' example and do the same, we’ll receive peace, power, and purpose that comes from God alone. You know it has never been more important for God's people to be on their knees. Live the Word
Friday Jan 10, 2025
Friday Jan 10, 2025
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
George Mueller was a great man of faith. He lived in such a way that the Word of God directed his life, including his incredible work of taking care of thousands of orphans by faith. He actually wrote down in his diary every occurrence that happened as God supernaturally answered his prayers. He received over a million pounds sterling for the support of his orphanages without ever once telling a single person outside the institutions of their needs. He believed that God still provides for those who trust Him and obey Him—and guess what? God did. And this is how we live by faith and see the Scriptures come alive in our life—by placing our trust in God that He will provide and answer our prayers. And when we hide God's Word in our heart, we can pray those Scriptures and deepen our faith daily. And when we do, God becomes the center of our whole life. Reading for Guidance
Thursday Jan 09, 2025
Thursday Jan 09, 2025
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways, acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path." When we apply this powerful verse to the area of reading our Bibles—we see that we do so not only to acquire knowledge of God and His ways but also to be guided in our lives by His will and His mind. We must come to the Bible in a prayerful spirit. We’re reading it with the intention of having God address us. We can pray along with the Psalmist, “Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law” and also plead the promise of Ezekiel 36:27 that He will cause us to walk in His statutes. We are seeking to learn His will and then do it. To learn more about how you can grow in your faith through reading God's Word, visit our website at sharelife.today. That’s sharelife.today.

Have A Plan
Wednesday Jan 08, 2025
Wednesday Jan 08, 2025
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
If you fail to plan, you plan to fail. Isn't that the truth? And as we seek to grow in the area of Bible reading, it's important to have a good plan. The reason we plan is because it's important as children of God to, over time, gain a thorough knowledge of the contents of all of Scripture. The more familiar you are with its contents; the more able you are to appreciate what God is doing and what He’s saying to us. You can find published plans on many Bible apps, or even online, that will take you through the whole Bible in a year or more. Whatever your plan, make sure to stick to it. If for some reason, your reading lapses for a while, don’t give up—find where you left off and start again. Start creating this important habit in your life and watch your faith grow! Kingdom Students
Tuesday Jan 07, 2025
Tuesday Jan 07, 2025
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
We are learners from the moment we’re born until the day we die. We are instructed, shaped, and conditioned by processes that we may hardly notice. We learn attitudes, outlooks, values, and understandings of our world, of ourselves, and of others from a myriad of sources—such as parents, peers, friends, significant others, communities, and culture. They all have a part in shaping us. Now, not all that we learn from these sources will bear the stamp of the Kingdom of God. And that’s why God’s Word is so important to us as new creations in Christ. The Word of God is about life in another Kingdom. And learning to live as people who belong to the Kingdom of God in a broken world is a constant challenge. We need the God’s Word to "be transformed by the renewing of [our] mind[s]," as Paul tells us in Romans. God Speaks
Monday Jan 06, 2025
Monday Jan 06, 2025
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
The Bible is the most widely distributed book—and also the least read. There are millions of professing believers who have not yet discovered the joy and spiritual benefits of digging deeply into the Word of God. It is an inexhaustible treasure trove of wisdom. From the opening chapters of Genesis to the last chapter of Revelation, the God of the Bible is the God who speaks. And He uses His Word as a primary means to do so in our lives. So, if we are not seeking to hear God's voice through reading the Bible, we are missing out on some major growth in our Christian walk. Today is the day to begin growing in this area! Let's open God's Word and listen to what He has to say. And as we grow, let's always be mindful to share with others what God is doing in our lives. This can open the door to spiritual conversations where we can share the Good News of the Gospel. For more resources, visit our website at sharelife.today.
