Pray To Save

Who do you want to see come to know Jesus? Do you have a name? Are you praying for that person? Have you gotten another believer to pray for them with you? A few years ago, the youth pastor at my church became intentional in discipling teenagers to pray for their lost friends. The ministry started praying just for over 140 people; and in just the first 2 months, 18 of those friends came to a saving faith in Jesus! That’s the power of praying together for the lost! Can you imagine what would happen in the lives of the lost ones that you love if you would get together with other believers to pray for them? A praying heart is also a heart open to sharing the Gospel, so do both as the Lord leads you and watch as He moves mountains to save the lost and hurting. Jesus Prayed for the Lost

Do you realize that Jesus prayed for you? You might be thinking...what did He pray? Well, on the night of His arrest before Calvary, Jesus prayed this: "Father, I want those you have given me to be with me where I am, and to see my glory, the glory you have given me because you loved me before the creation of the world." This is God's great mission! Right before Jesus was arrested, brutally beaten and killed, He prayed for the lost. He prayed that people would come to know Him - to be with Him in Heaven one day. Are you doing this? Are you praying for the lost? If you're not, let me encourage you to start today. Write down ten names of family, friends, or coworkers who don't yet know Jesus and begin to pray for their salvation daily. Pray For Them

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Who are you praying for? Now, I'm sure that if you know Jesus, you pray regularly for your family and friends, and maybe even some people that you don't personally know. But, are you praying for the lost? The Lord puts a burden on our hearts for others, and He hears our prayers...so if you're praying for the lost, watch with expectation — He will honor your prayers. Pray that those who don't yet know Christ that they will hear God's Word and be receptive to it. Pray that they will be given the opportunity to accept the grace of Jesus. And also, when you pray for nonbelievers, don't forget to pray for believers to be raised up to share the Gospel with them. Matthew chapter 9 says the harvest is plentiful but the workers are few, so ask the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into the field...and then be willing to BE one of those workers! Pray to Revive

Have you ever prayed for a great revival? Have you given up praying for that revival yet? Well, there was once a 100-year prayer meeting - that's right, a prayer meeting that last one hundred years! The prayer was for revival, and it happened. The 100 Year Prayer meeting was held in Saxony, Germany; and 65 years into it, the community that was praying had already sent out 300 missionaries! So not only did they devote themselves to prayer, but they were also willing to go out themselves and share the Good News of Jesus Christ. So don't give up praying with believers for revival to happen. Pray for the Gospel to be heard and then share the Gospel! Jesus said that where two or three gather in His Name, He’ll be among them. So, spend time in prayer with other believers and watch God move among you. Praying for Others

There is a power in agreement when we pray in Jesus’ name. Christ said in Matthew 18, “For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I with them.” And later, His disciple John wrote, "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us." Praying with others powerfully effects both us and the person we’re praying with, as we seek God's will in our lives. It's also a great way to open the door to a spiritual conversation. I ask waiters, cab drivers, and store clerks all over the world how I can pray for them, and almost all of them give me their requests. I then offer to go before God right then and there if they are able to join me. This has started many Gospel conversations that God has used to bring men and women into His family. Purpose Through the Great Commission

Did you know that God has a very specific purpose for your life? His last command to His disciples should be our first concern—to go and make disciples. However, when we hear this, I think sometimes we convince ourselves that this means that we need to sell all that we have and move to a different country and to be a missionary for Jesus. And while that may be the call for some, what Jesus means is that while we are going through life…we are to make disciples. Whatever we are doing in our day-to-day life, we are to be focused on telling others the Good News. Oliver shared on what’s my story dot org: “I spend time with unbelieving friends weekly at orchestra. I didn't used to put any significance on that time, but now I understand that it has a purpose--I have a Great Commission, and they’re watching me. Commitment At All Cost

“Let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross…” These verses in Hebrews 12 clearly show us our greatest example of commitment at all cost, and that is our Savior Jesus. He endured trials and suffering for the sake our being saved. And we have the great privilege to tell others this wonderful news—that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, and purchased eternal life for us. We should be excited to do so! Yes, it can be scary—there can be a cost that comes with sharing the Gospel with others. But Jesus knew there would be a cost and it didn’t stop Him. He laid down His life willingly, and so we should do the same and use our lives to lovingly and boldly share the Gospel with others. A Call to Faithfulness

In Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus gives His disciples the very famous and important Great Commission. This commission extends to us even today: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Christ’s call to action for us is not simply a command; it’s an invitation for all Christ-followers to grow in faith. Through walking in obedience to His last command, we accept the call and faithfully share with others and make disciples. And truly, our Savior deserves our utmost loyalty! Because of His great sacrifice on the cross and His resurrection from the dead, all who put their trust in Him receive the gift of eternal life. And that’s us! A Matter of Discipleship

The focus of the Great Commission is not making converts, but rather making disciples. Well, what does sharing our faith have to do with discipleship? Actually, there’s a direct connection. Someone has told me that he couldn’t share his faith in Christ if he’s not walking the walk. And in that sense, when you’re actively sharing the Gospel, it becomes a discipling ministry on its own for you to grow more like Jesus. But there’s even more to it than that. Bill comes to mind. He was a churchgoer for 56 years of his life, and yet he didn’t have a personal relationship with Christ. Can you imagine, all of those years attending church and missing the main message? Sadly, he’s not alone. But Bill wanted to talk with people about spiritual things. Our Call To Share

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Sometimes, I think that we convince ourselves that no one wants to hear the Gospel or that we would bother people with it. Well, let me tell you a testimony from my own life. We see this happen again and again, week after week as we disciple Christians to share their faith. It was an regular Saturday afternoon, and I took my team to a laundromat. We had some wonderful conversations, and we were about to leave when a white car pulled up. A young man leaned out and cried, "Me next. Do me next!" I wasn’t sure if he actually knew what we wanted to share with him, but when I asked him if he really wanted to hear the Gospel, he said, “Yes, please share it with me!” After telling him about Jesus, he and his 19-year-old girlfriend prayed to receive Christ right there in the laundromat parking lot.
