Sharing With Confidence

Did you know that God uses ordinary people like you and me to point others to Christ? Opportunities to share our faith are literally all around us. With a few simple tools, we can speak the Gospel with confidence and develop passion for those who do not yet know Him. One of the keys to sharing your faith with confidence is simply to being yourself. Keep the conversation friendly. Ask questions about their spiritual life and what gives them the most meaning. Take time to listen and understand where they are struggling. And share your story about how you came to know Jesus and what difference it’s made it your life. People love stories, and your story is interesting because it is unique. This will also help them understand the transforming power of the Gospel in your life and how a relationship with Jesus can impact them too. Giving What We’re Given

The Bible teaches us that everything we possess has come to us because God gave it to us. 1 Corinthians 4:7 says, “What do you have that you did not receive? And if you did receive it, why do you boast as though you did not?” Our responsibility with our possessions is to use them as God’s stewards — using them, that is, as He would Himself. In Acts chapter 2, we see a picture of the early church selling their property and possessions to make sure that any need was met. They had open hands and hearts with all that they owned. This is an expression of Christian fellowship in the church: sharing what we possess. And as we do, we receive opportunities to point others to the One who gave us everything in the first place—our Savior, Jesus Christ. What are some ways you can give what God has given you? In Spirit and Truth

When it comes to worshipping God, our heart matters. Our worship in a community of believers will only be as beneficial as our attitudes are sincere. Scripture gives us numerous "attitude checkpoints" by which we can examine our hearts to make certain that we are ready for worship. John wrote in John four that "a time [...]has now come when true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks." And if the Spirit is in us, He will convict us and grow us as we worship God through Him. Our humble cry should be, "Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me." Our humble, joyful, attentive attitudes in worship matter to God. So as we meet together with our church this weekend, let's come with the right attitude and worship our amazing Lord in Spirit and truth. Pray the Word

Jesus was hungry. He had been in the wilderness for forty days without eating a single thing. At the height of His physical weakness, the enemy crept close to Him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” That was the first of three temptations Jesus fought against that day. But He answered confidently with the Scripture, "It is written: ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but on every word that comes out of the mouth of God.'" Jesus was victorious by knowing the Word of God and hiding it in His heart. So let me encourage you today—make a habit in your life to memorize Scripture and then pray them. The Bible is living and breathing and active in our lives. And it doesn't just change our lives, it can be used to change the lives of those around us! Hide God's Word in your heart. God Speaks

The Bible is the most widely distributed book—and also the least read. There are millions of professing believers who have not yet discovered the joy and spiritual benefits of digging deeply into the Word of God. It is an inexhaustible treasure trove of wisdom. From the opening chapters of Genesis to the last chapter of Revelation, the God of the Bible is the God who speaks. And He uses His Word as a primary means to do so in our lives. So, if we are not seeking to hear God's voice through reading the Bible, we are missing out on some major growth in our Christian walk. Today is the day to begin growing in this area! Let's open God's Word and listen to what He has to say. And as we grow, let's always be mindful to share with others what God is doing in our lives. Scripture Sword

As we talk about preparing ourselves to share the Gospel this week, we would be missing an opportunity if we didn't talk about one of the most important tools—the Word of God. In Hebrews, the author writes that "the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." When we do training in evangelism at EE, we always make it a point to memorize Scripture. Because it is powerful! It works in the hearts of those we share it with. So let me encourage you today—start hiding God's Word in your heart and begin to share it with others. Start with John 3:16 or Acts 16:31, which says, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved." You’ll see God take it and use it to change lives. Tract Evangelism

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Should we still use tracts for evangelism? As I walked toward the meeting hall at a conference, I saw one of the security guards sitting and reading our “Do You Know For Sure” tract. I went over and asked him, “Do you understand what you’re reading?” And he said, “How can I unless someone explains it to me?” Immediately, I thought of the story of the Ethiopian eunuch when he met Philip on the road to Gaza. And just like the Bible story, this security guard listened carefully to the Gospel and gave his heart to Jesus Christ right there. And recently, we held a workshop to teach Christians how to share their faith, which they went out and did that very day! A few days later, a man called to tell us that he had made a decision to put his trust in Jesus through a tract that a team left with him. Tracts can be a great tool for us use to share our faith. Pattern

Homebuilders follow a pattern. It’s called a blueprint.  Chefs follow a pattern. It’s called a recipe. Drivers follow a pattern. It’s called a map. Patterns provide design and order and structure. Even the apostle Paul used a pattern in his spiritual teaching. “Follow the pattern of sound teaching you have heard from me” is the instruction that he gave to one of his students, Timothy. When it comes to explaining the Gospel to another person, a pattern is very important and helps us know what to say. The Gospel is not just our testimony or us talking about our church. The Gospel is a Biblical explanation as to why Jesus, and what He did on the cross, is so very important. We at EE have a pattern that teaches the key components of the Gospel, and I would encourage you to learn it, so you can share it and pass it on. Preparing With Prayer

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
We often say, at EE, that witnessing without prayer is presumption. The atruth is, we cannot effectively share Jesus with others unless we begin with prayer. Prayer invites the Holy Spirit to go with us and to lead the conversation. He’s the One who gives us the words to say. He’s the One who speaks to and ultimately changes hearts. Without Him, we go alone. So as we talk about preparing to share the Gospel this week, I want you to know that preparation begins with prayer. The Bible says in 1 John that "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us." Is it God's will for people to hear the Good News of the Gospel? Well, you bet! So let's begin to pray and ask the Holy Spirit for guidance and opportunities to share. And let's get prepared! True Belief Leads To Action

We were gathered together on a Thursday night for evangelism training. This particular night, Dr. D. James Kennedy caught the attention of a young man on the front row and said, “Don’t move—not even a muscle! You have a poisonous snake under you chair. Don’t look! He’s looking right at your leg. When he looks away, I’ll tell you. Be ready to jump out of that chair. Steady...ready...JUMP!” That young man nearly jumped through the roof! The point that Dr. Kennedy made was simple. If that young man really believed him, then his belief would have certainly, logically, radically turned to action. True belief always does. And the truth we believe is that there is a hurting world in need of a Savior. Jesus came and died to forgive us our sins if only we’ll believe. But many don't know because they haven't heard.
