Scripture Sword

As we talk about preparing ourselves to share the Gospel this week, we would be missing an opportunity if we didn't talk about one of the most important tools—the Word of God. In Hebrews, the author writes that "the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart." When we do training in evangelism at EE, we always make it a point to memorize Scripture. Because it is powerful! It works in the hearts of those we share it with. So let me encourage you today—start hiding God's Word in your heart and begin to share it with others. Start with John 3:16 or Acts 16:31, which says, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved." You’ll see God take it and use it to change lives. Tract Evangelism

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Should we still use tracts for evangelism? As I walked toward the meeting hall at a conference, I saw one of the security guards sitting and reading our “Do You Know For Sure” tract. I went over and asked him, “Do you understand what you’re reading?” And he said, “How can I unless someone explains it to me?” Immediately, I thought of the story of the Ethiopian eunuch when he met Philip on the road to Gaza. And just like the Bible story, this security guard listened carefully to the Gospel and gave his heart to Jesus Christ right there. And recently, we held a workshop to teach Christians how to share their faith, which they went out and did that very day! A few days later, a man called to tell us that he had made a decision to put his trust in Jesus through a tract that a team left with him. Tracts can be a great tool for us use to share our faith. Pattern

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Homebuilders follow a pattern. It’s called a blueprint.  Chefs follow a pattern. It’s called a recipe. Drivers follow a pattern. It’s called a map. Patterns provide design and order and structure. Even the apostle Paul used a pattern in his spiritual teaching. “Follow the pattern of sound teaching you have heard from me” is the instruction that he gave to one of his students, Timothy. When it comes to explaining the Gospel to another person, a pattern is very important and helps us know what to say. The Gospel is not just our testimony or us talking about our church. The Gospel is a Biblical explanation as to why Jesus, and what He did on the cross, is so very important. We at EE have a pattern that teaches the key components of the Gospel, and I would encourage you to learn it, so you can share it and pass it on. Preparing With Prayer

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
We often say, at EE, that witnessing without prayer is presumption. The atruth is, we cannot effectively share Jesus with others unless we begin with prayer. Prayer invites the Holy Spirit to go with us and to lead the conversation. He’s the One who gives us the words to say. He’s the One who speaks to and ultimately changes hearts. Without Him, we go alone. So as we talk about preparing to share the Gospel this week, I want you to know that preparation begins with prayer. The Bible says in 1 John that "This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us." Is it God's will for people to hear the Good News of the Gospel? Well, you bet! So let's begin to pray and ask the Holy Spirit for guidance and opportunities to share. And let's get prepared! True Belief Leads To Action

We were gathered together on a Thursday night for evangelism training. This particular night, Dr. D. James Kennedy caught the attention of a young man on the front row and said, “Don’t move—not even a muscle! You have a poisonous snake under you chair. Don’t look! He’s looking right at your leg. When he looks away, I’ll tell you. Be ready to jump out of that chair. Steady...ready...JUMP!” That young man nearly jumped through the roof! The point that Dr. Kennedy made was simple. If that young man really believed him, then his belief would have certainly, logically, radically turned to action. True belief always does. And the truth we believe is that there is a hurting world in need of a Savior. Jesus came and died to forgive us our sins if only we’ll believe. But many don't know because they haven't heard. Two Changed Lives

“What impact could I possibly make?” Have you ever felt that way before? Well, Isabella certainly did. But she stepped outside her comfort zone and attended an evangelism discipleship training in Arizona. She went out into the community with a team and spoke to a man named Chris. They asked him two great questions: if he knew for sure he’d go to Heaven one day, and if he stood before God and God asked why He should let Chris into Heaven, what would he say? Well, Chris's answer was like so many others - he was trusting in his own good works to get him into Heaven, and he hoped it would be enough. Isabella was able to share that our works will never be enough, but placing our faith in Jesus alone to save us is all we need. I’m happy to tell you that Chris put his faith in Jesus that day! From Trepidation to Inspiration

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
When it comes to sharing your faith, do you let fear hold you back? Now, I know that when I first started telling others about Jesus, fear of judgment often held me back. But as God grew me as a witness, and He helped me lay to rest my fears. The same happened to Noah from India. He came to know Jesus at ten years old when his Sunday School teacher told Noah about the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. But it wasn’t until he was an adult that he learned how to share the Gospel at one of our evangelism discipleship trainings. He told us that he trembled with trepidation, but after being trained, he felt inspired and equipped. And ever since, Noah has been sharing his faith wherever he goes and has seen many lives transformed by Jesus in India. The Gospel is powerful and changes hearts and lives. Let’s Go

Why do we share the Gospel? Well, the simplest answer is because Jesus told us to. After He showed Himself to the disciples and many others after His resurrection, He left them with the Great Commission. "Therefore go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Christ gave every follower of His a purpose before ascending to heaven—He called us to go and tell people the Good News of the Gospel. And through people coming to know Him, Christians are formed and begin to grow in their faith. What a privilege and calling we have! And the best news is we don't have to do it alone. Evangelism Training

Here’s an example of intentional witnessing. Nou and two other ladies from her church attended an evangelism training event. This was Nou’s text the day after the training. “Our flight was cancelled so that God could lead us to talk to the manager of the hotel and share the Gospel with him. He prayed to receive Christ as his Lord and Savior.” And then a few months later, another text from Nou said, “I witnessed to sixteen of my nieces and nephews at my family reunion—ranging from age from nine to twenty-nine. Ten of them prayed to receive Christ.” And then there was yet another text: “We attended a soccer tournament and got to witness to ten people. Two people prayed to receive Christ.“ That’s what happens when someone learns how to share their faith. They see opportunities that are all around them and can't help but share their faith! Share Hope

"Trusting in what Jesus has done for me has brought me peace, hope and a future I can feel joyful about." Michele penned these words in her testimony on what's my story dot org. Before she had eternal life, Michele dealt with a lot of guilt and shame that caused her great anxiety and depression. But someone invited her to church where she heard the Gospel; and that day, her life was changed forever as she accepted Jesus as her Savior. And you know what? There are a lot of Michele's out there, looking for hope. And we know the source of all hope—Jesus Christ, who through his sacrifice on the cross offers us eternal life.
