Divine Appointments

The Holy Spirit is softening and drawing hearts to Himself each and every day. And we can be a part of His work. One of the very best ways to join the Holy Spirit is by praying for what we like to call “Divine Appointments.” I can’t tell you how many times He has led me a person who was waiting for someone to share the Gospel with them. In Arizona, I met a twenty-one-year-old named Raymond who was waiting at a bus stop. He told me that he was in a recovery program that talked about God but hadn’t shared much about Him. Raymond was sitting there wondering how he could find out more when we walked up. With tears in his eyes, he accepted Christ after hearing the Gospel and said, “Thank you! Fulfilling the Great Commission

Did you know that there are Christians all around the world that have been working tirelessly to fulfill Jesus’ last command? He gave us the Great Commission in Matthew 28:19-20: “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you…” And there are many that have taken this very seriously. In fact, there are leaders that are saying the Gospel will be finished going forth and the Great Commission will be fulfilled as early as 2033. A few are saying it could be even earlier than that! And if this is true, the question we must ask ourselves is what role will we play? Let me encourage you: don’t wait to start sharing your faith. A Season For Everything

There is a season for everything...and did you know we’re part of a very special season right now of spiritual harvest! This past year, we saw over 17 million people come to Christ worldwide. The amazing part is that we are seeing an interest in hearing the Gospel like we’ve perhaps never seen before. For years, we would find one out of ten people that we approached wanted to hear; but today, we’re seeing six out of ten that are open to having a spiritual conversation. This is simply amazing. And proof that there is a great revival going on. But how unfortunate it would be for us to miss out on the blessing of being a part of it all. We have the purpose and the privilege to be Jesus’ hands and feet here on earth, bringing the Gospel to the ends of the earth. And this includes our workplaces, neighborhoods, families, and friends. Know The Season

How does a farmer know to harvest? Well, it boils down to a farmer looking at their field and seeing that the crop is ripe! You know, the Bible uses the very same analogy for a spiritual harvest of souls ready to accept the free gift of eternal life. Jesus told the disciples, “I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.” It would be detrimental to a farm if the workers missed out on collecting the crop. There may be bankruptcy or even people who starve from it. But for the us, it would be even more harmful. Not to God—because He can make the rocks cry out His glory. But how unfortunate it would be for us to miss out on the blessing of being a part of the harvest. We have the purpose and the privilege to be Jesus’ hands and feet here on earth, and that includes bringing the Gospel to the ends of the earth. A Fire in Joshua’s Heart

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Joshua was just a child. There was no way he could be able to talk to others about his faith! Or at least, that's what he thought. But then something amazing happened...he was discipled in a Hope for Kids training in India during a Sunday school class. Shortly after the training, Joshua had the idea to draw two question marks on his t-shirt. The question marks represented two important, diagnostic questions that he could ask to begin sharing the Gospel. His father says that a flame ignited in Joshua’s heart. “He went on a rampage asking the two questions to everyone he met." And this led to many discussions about Jesus, where many made a decision to trust in Jesus. Joshua was not only able to share with his peers, but also had the opportunity to share with adults. Passing the Baton

Christianity has always been just one generation from extinction. I mean — think about it. All it takes is for one generation to drop the ball for the next generation to miss the opportunity to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ. They cannot pass along what they do not have. And it can happen in just one generation. In Judges 2, an entire generation grew up not knowing the Lord and what He had done for nation of Israel, because the previous generation did not pass it along. So what do we do? How can we engage the younger generation with the Gospel in a way that’s real and personal? Well firstly, we can start by giving children and young adults a strong foundation in the Gospel. And secondly, we can allow them be an integral part in building God's Kingdom right now by helping them share the most exciting gift that they have: their faith. Share Mercy

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
A thousand years for us seems but as a breath for God. And yet, this eternal, omnipotent Creator of the universe cares about us and our life. And He cares about our children and our children’s children. He desires for us all to know Him and grow in our relationship with Him. Jesus told us in Luke that “his mercy extends to those who fear him, from generation to generation.” And that mercy is compassion and forgiveness toward us, that even “while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” You see, we deserve death, but are given eternal life through Him. And we in turn are asked to share God’s mercy by telling others what Jesus did for them on the cross! And this is one of the greatest acts of love that we can ever do. Declare God’s Power

If you were given the opportunity to impart something meaningful to the next generation, what would you talk about? Well for David, a man after God’s own heart, he declared in the book of Psalms, “Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who come.” Daniel also speaks of this and adds that God's Kingdom is eternal. On this side of eternity, we can only personally experience our one life. But God is everlasting. And if we've put our trust in Jesus, we will spend eternity with Him. And while we are here on this earth as "strangers in a foreign land," this is our opportunity to tell others of God's power and how He conquered sin and death. Cannot Leave the Guilty Unpunished

“From generation to generation of those who fear the Lord…” If you are an avid Bible reader, this is a phrase that you may have come across. In fact, throughout the Bible, God talks about truths that surpass generations. And one of these unfortunately is the reality of our sin. The curse that started with Adam continues to be spread to every human. We all are guilty of sinning against God. And in Exodus 34, He tells us that God is just and cannot leave the guilty unpunished. The only way to break free from the bondage of sin that plagues each generation is the cross work of Jesus Christ. And this shows us the importance of the Gospel! Because the Good News is that Jesus offers everyone the free gift of eternal life if we’ll put our trust in Him. And we have the privilege to be the messengers of His amazing grace. Not sure how? Faith Like A Child

Just like adults, children need the hope of the Gospel. When they come to faith in Jesus, it changes everything for them. Jesus told His disciples in Luke 18, "Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, many churches attended a training to learn how to disciple the children of their churches with the Gospel. As practice for the training, they went house to house sharing the Gospel. Children all along the way decided to follow them up to the church where the workshop was being held. In two afternoons, they shared the Gospel to 418 children and adults; and among them, 355 made professions of Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
