A Powerful Tool

Do you realize that you have an extremely powerful tool that can help bring people to saving faith in Jesus Christ? It’s your testimony! And they come in all shapes and sizes, but what they have in common is that they tell of God's faithfulness and grace in each of our lives. Take Kevin, for example. Before he had eternal life, he had no purpose. To him, all there was to life was pain and finally death, and he was just along for the ride. But one day, he raised his hand in church expressing that he had no idea where he would go when he died. After the service, Kevin went up to the altar where someone shared what Jesus did for him on the cross. And guess what? He received Jesus as his Lord and Savior, and everything began to change! Now, he has not only found purpose in sharing his faith with others, but he also knows that God has plans for his life. What a difference! Your Story

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Do you realize that God has given you a story to tell?  We often refer to it as a testimony but I prefer to call it “your story.” If you have trusted in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, your story of how God saved you and changed you counts.  I hope that’s obvious to you.  But as I travel the world, I’m often amazed at how many Christians don’t think their story counts for much of anything.  I hope you’re not one of those people who thinks their story is lackluster or “no big deal” because that just doesn’t line-up with Scripture.  In Revelation 12:11, it says, “And they have defeated him (meaning Satan) by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony.” According to that verse, your testimony is an incredibly valuable and powerful witnessing tool. Prayer is God’s Plan

You know, we often say at Evangelism Explosion that witnessing without prayer is presumption. Before we ever start looking for opportunities to share the Gospel, we should be coming before God, asking for His guidance and wisdom. Jesus Himself told us in John 15, "If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you." Elisabeth Elliot said, "Prayer lays hold of God's plan and becomes the link between his will and its accomplishment on earth." And you know what the Bible says is part of God's will for our lives? It's that we would be bold witnesses and share with others what Christ has done for them. So let me challenge you: start praying for your friends and family that you’ll see over the holidays and watch God orchestrate ways you can start spiritual conversations and then share the Gospel with them. Halloween and the Gospel

Do your Halloween plans this evening involve the Gospel? As believers, we should try to do everything that we can to point people to the Gospel. Last year, my church held a big event on Halloween with more candy than you could count! It was open to the community so there was a huge crowd. The focus, however, was not on candy, though every child left with more than they could eat. The focus was the Gospel. Every child and parent heard a clear Gospel presentation and an invitation to accept Christ as Lord and Savior...all before they got to the candy and to the carnival attractions! And while your event may be different, the message can be the same. Be thinking about how you can share the hope you have tonight. Perhaps it starts with candy and leads to a Gospel conversation or perhaps an opportunity to share your testimony. Whatever it is, let your light shine! For more, visit www.sharelife.today.

That Time of The Year

It's that time of the year again! Many events are happening this week in communities across the country. Whether it's a trunk-or-treat, a Fall Festival, a pumpkin patch, or trick-or-treating, I want to encourage you — look for opportunities to share the love of Christ. The Gospel is always needed, no matter the time of year, holiday, or circumstance. We need to be intentional as Christians and share what Jesus has done with those around us. If you're attending a party, seek out meaningful conversations that could lead to sharing how Christ has changed your life and given you eternal security. If you're giving out candy, consider handing out some Gospel tracts, too. Pray for the Holy Spirit to give you opportunities to share; and when they come, talk about the hope you've found in Christ. Light the Night

Are you afraid of the dark? Well, during this time of year, there is a lot of emphasis on the spooky and dark side of things. But don't be scared of it! Instead, shine the light of Jesus on the darkness in our world. Now, how do you spread some light? First, we need to know God's Word. Psalm 119:105 says: “Your Word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path...” So don't dwell on the darkness! Walk with your path illuminated by God's Word and take every chance you can to spread His Word to others, especially in times like we’re in right now. Here's a tip: this Halloween, light up someone's night by sharing a Bible verse that God has laid on your heart. Ask them engaging spiritual questions that could lead to a Gospel conversation. To the Gospel Advantage

Candy, ghosts, goblins and... the Gospel? How are these things related? Well, they're not, BUT we are coming up on Halloween, and that means we are surrounded by all things black and orange and full of sugar. How should Christians choose to respond to this holiday? It's really a controversial topic and while you should always listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit and pay attention to the convictions He places on your heart, every believer ought to be able to agree that we are here to bring the light of Jesus into the darkness. One of the ways you can do that this week is by taking advantage of the holiday. Take advantage of the fact that friends are getting together or your neighbors are out and about more. The Openness of America

For six decades, we at EE have been training Christians to reach the people in their life with the Gospel. And we’ve seen it transform their walk with God. And last year, through semesters and training events alone, we saw over twenty million people make professions of faith around the world. Now, before you write this off as happening only outside the USA, let me share what we’ve seen here. In 2021, we conducted a study with Lifeway Research that confirmed what we had been seeing. Sixty-six percent of Americans said that they’re open to having a spiritual conversation with a friend, and fifty-one percent said they’re open to having that same conversation with an absolute stranger! And in a recent training last month, we saw ninety percent of the people we approached (who were not already Christians) willing to talk to us—strangers—about spiritual things. We Are All Lamplighters

Jesus said that we are the light of the world. So, we need to become lamplighters for Him. I couldn’t put it better than Dr. Kennedy himself, describing a poem from Sir Harry Lauder: “I was sitting in the gloaming, and a man passed my window. It was the old lamplighter, and he pushed his pole into the lamp and lighted it. And then another, and another, and another. And soon, I could not see him at all, but I knew right where he was by the lamps that he lit. Ah, my friends, you’re all lamplighters. I think that’s about as beautiful a picture of the life of a witnessing Christian that I’ve ever heard. Heal Our Land

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from Heaven, and I will forgive their sin and heal their land.” That promise from 2 Chronicles 7:14 still applies to us today. If we turn back to God, God will be faithful to forgive us and heal our land. And the primary way God wants us to come back to Him—I believe!—is through our obedience. He has given us the greatest purpose in Jesus’ final command to us here on earth, called the Great Commission. “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations...” And Jesus has given us power as we go, for the Bible tells us that that same power that raised Jesus from the dead lives in us.
