Standing In The Gap

In a rural village in Peru, a church decided to start to prioritize discipling the children in their church. They decided to teach them in all the ways to grow—from Bible reading to knowing the key points of the Gospel and how to share their faith. And these third through fifth graders boldly went back to their village and started sharing with the adults in their community—from shop keepers to neighbors of theirs. And guess what? Adults started making professions of faith in Jesus! These children have had a tremendous impact in their village. And their mentors said this about them: "We thank God for this generation that stands in the gap and takes on the challenge to go and share with those who still do not know Jesus." And guess what? Children Changing Their Community

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Torosso is a humble village with a large population of children in Africa. The "little g" god of that village is named “kilè.” The pastor who’s the head of all of the churches in this area said, “People are looking for the good God, but they don’t know how or where [to find Him]. So they are living in spiritual darkness from generation to generation.” However, something big has happened! In the past year, the church has grown to over two hundred children. They have started to understand that “kilè” is not the good or true god, so most of them have joined the church to find our more about Jesus. And at these new churches, the Gospel is not only being shared with them, but they’re being discipled in it. This will impact these children’s lives for eternity, and the pastor believes these children will change their village to the glory of God. Children and Living Water

Did you know that children are thirsty for the same Living Water that Jesus offers to all? They experience the same broken world that we as adults do — and they need the hope and love found only in Jesus. By The Hand, a non-profit that operates in Chicago, believes this whole-heartedly — so much so that they hold a Hope For Kids club for more than five hundred children every year. And as they walk through the Gospel each week, they see many of those children give their hearts and lives to Jesus. Bethany, a child who received Christ as her Savior through coming to the club, said, "I gave my life to Jesus because He died on the cross for me, He cares for me, He listens to me when I’m down." Her relationship with Jesus has changed everything for her. So, let's be intentional to share with the children in our communities and churches the Gospel, bringing them life, truth, and hope. Children And The Gospel

Have you ever thought about how many people one child interacts with throughout the course of his or her life? Children have their whole lives ahead of them. And everywhere they go, they meet people. So, just think, when a child is equipped to share their faith, the Gospel goes everywhere they go. And, have you noticed that children don’t seem to have the same hang-ups talking about Jesus that we adults often have? They don’t worry about what someone will think. They just want their friend or their mom or dad or grandparent to know Jesus – and so they tell them about Him. And in case you’re wondering if it’s really possible for children to share the Gospel, I can tell you from experience with Hope For Kids, our children's evangelism discipleship program, that children can share the Gospel and, dare I say, sometimes even better than some adults. For God and Country

"If My people, who are called by My name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I’ll hear from heaven, and I’ll forgive their sin and will heal their land." This promise from God found in 2 Chronicles gives us such hope—even in a time where hope is scarce in our country. But here's the truth: God is faithful; He keeps His promises. So, we must humble ourselves, pray, and seek His face. We must turn from our wicked ways and repent of our sins. That's the power of the Gospel. When we place our trust in Jesus alone and turn from our sins, when we accept Jesus as the Lord and Savior of our lives...everything changes. And when this happens in a person after person, well...our culture and country changes. It heals as we’re healed. So let's not delay—let's share the Gospel. A Community Impact

Things happen when a community comes together. We see this time and time again in our neighborhoods, cities, and country. And this very same principle applies to telling others about Jesus. We are stronger together. In Namibia, Africa, this is happening all across the country. But I'd love to share with you an example of the local churches. They came together for an evangelism training event for children's workers, where they taught Hope For Kids, a program that disciples children to share their faith. And then, they took it back to their churches and started implementing it. And children in the community's lives started to change. And through that, the community started to change. This was all because Christians like you and me decided to come together and to make an impact. And these believers were part of over 2 million children coming to know Jesus in the past year all over the world. And we praise God for that! Not In My Country

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
I met a pastor a few years ago who told me that evangelism doesn’t work anymore. He told me you can’t go and talk to people because the culture doesn’t approve. Do you know where this pastor was from? The African nation of Zambia. Unfortunately, that is a common statement we often hear around the world. However, I asked this pastor if he’d be open to come to a training near his home in Zambia and test his theory. Well, during that week, the Gospel was shared with 234 people with 158 giving their lives to Christ. Needless to say, he not only had a change of heart but a renewed passion for sharing the Gospel. And this is what we want to happen in our country. Sharing the Gospel is still effective. People are open to hearing the Good News of the Gospel…so let's share! The Gospel Changes Everything

The Gospel changes everything. Can I get an amen?! In our day and age, what's happening in our country and culture makes things look very bleak. But there is truth that we as Christians believe...the Gospel changes people from the inside out. And when people are changed, communities change. When communities change, cities are changed; and when cities are changed, nations are changed. The power of the Gospel is salvation for all who put their trust in Jesus and Him alone. So if we want to change our country and our culture, we need to start with the Gospel. Its transforming power changes hurting, sinful hearts to joyful, peace-filled ones. Because when someone puts their trust in Jesus, He gives them the Holy Spirit who gifts them with these things. Hope In Our Country

We should all want hope in our country. But you know what? We'll never have hope in our country until we have hope in our cities. And we'll never have hope in our cities until we have hope on our streets. We'll never have hope on our streets until we have hope in our homes. And we'll never have hope in our homes until we have hope in our heart. So then, here's the question: how do you get hope in our hearts? The source is Jesus Christ. Jesus came so that we could have new life. And it is that new life that is the fountain of hope within us. Billy Graham said it well, "For the believer, there is hope beyond the grave, because Jesus Christ has opened the door to heaven for us by His death and resurrection." Gospel Outline Week – Faith

Today, we're coming to the final day of learning an easy to remember, hard to forget Gospel presentation. We’ve been using the five fingers of our hand as our learning aid. Picture the smallest finger on your hand - it's going to represent faith. Grace, Man, God and Christ, Faith. Faith, in a Biblical sense, is the means whereby people make a personal response to the Gospel. Saving faith isn’t simply head knowledge about Jesus. Many know about Jesus, but have never experienced saving faith. Saving faith is also not just “temporary faith,” trusting in Jesus for health, safety, finances. Saving faith is trusting in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life and it's necessary for salvation.
