God’s Great Love

When Jesus shared the parable of the Prodigal Son, He told us of a strained relationship between a kind Father and his wayward son. Ultimately, the Father welcomed his son back with open arms! Romans 5:10 says “For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through His life!” You see, that's the Father’s great love. He loved us so much, that He sent His one and only Son from Heaven to die on a cross in our place. We were reconciled through Jesus. So, what can we do to love others as God has loved us? Well, where were you in life when you first came to Christ? Do you know anyone else in that same place who needs to hear about His great love? True Love

Happy Valentine's Day! Whether you celebrate this day of love or not, it is a great opportunity to ask those around you, "What would you say true love is?" You’ll get many answers in return and an opportunity to ask them, "Can I tell you about how I have found the greatest love I have ever experienced?" This can lead to a spiritual conversation where you can share your testimony of when you received Christ and understood God’s love. His love is different from human affection because it is unconditional, sacrificial, and never-ending. It also never fails. He showed it clearly through sending His only Son to earth to live the perfect life we couldn't and die in our place. Through His sacrifice, we have an opportunity to accept what He has done and be forgiven of all of our sins. What an amazing gift! And He offers it to all who would believe. Known by Love

Here’s a question: what are you known for? Jesus says in John 13:35, "By this all people will know that you’re my disciples, if you have love for one another.” Over and over again, the Bible urges us to love one another. After all, it is the Father's love that compelled Him to make a way for us to be with Him forever in Heaven! I know a guy named Vince who had a heart procedure. Now, can you believe that DURING the procedure he shared the Gospel with the doctors and nurses in the operating room? I mean, talk about a heart for Jesus! What do you think Vince is known for? Well, I'm sure everyone in that operating room can attest to the fact that Vince truly loves Jesus! What a testimony! Real Love

What is real love? Now, that’s the question that all of humanity has wrestled with. You see, we all need love. In fact, we’re made for it! When God created man and woman, He did so in His own image, and He declared it good. And the Bible tells us over and over about the Father’s love for us. In fact, there’s a hymn you may have heard before that says, “How deep the Father’s love for us; how vast beyond all measure…that He should give His only Son to make a wretch His treasure.” Jesus told his disciples in John fifteen that “greater love hath no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” Did you know that Jesus—who’s God Himself—not only came to earth, but He died on the cross for our sins in our place? Light in the Darkness

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Sometimes, we can get discouraged by the darkness that we see around us. Even turning on the news can cause us to lose hope. But let me share with you today 2 Corinthians 4:6, which says, “For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.” The world looks very similar to the way it was over two thousand years ago when Jesus first stepped foot on it. And just as He brought light to dark hearts then, He continues to do so now through transforming those who trust in Him from the inside out. He replaces our old, sinful hearts with new ones. And as new creations, we have the Holy Spirit dwelling within us, lighting our souls with joy and peace. So let’s not keep it to ourselves. Light and Salvation

“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” This beautiful verse from Psalm 27 teaches us an important truth about Jesus—He is our light and our salvation. Jesus did not come just to be a good example or a great teacher for us—the Bible tells us that He is our Savior. Romans three says that “the wages of sin is death,” and every person that’s sinned has to pay it. Jesus told his disciples that “all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God.” Well, all means all—that’s all all means! Every human has fallen short of that standard. But praise be to God! Jesus was more than just another man—He’s God in the flesh who died on the cross for our sins. He is our light and salvation. Who can you share this Good News with today? Light of the World

The crowd had gathered from what seemed like everywhere. The city was straining under the weight of all of their needs. This particular night, the crowds were packed inside, outside, and everywhere near the temple. They had come to celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles. So here they were, gathered to remember when God faithfully led them as a pillar of fire and protected them. And as they lit the great candelabra, the light streamed throughout the temple. You could hear the voice of Jesus over the incredible hush saying, "I am the light of the world. If you follow Me, you will not stumble through the darkness, because you will have the light that leads to life." What a statement! He was telling them that He was the One who kept them safe in the wilderness. And the same powerful God has offered us rescue from our sins and eternal death. I’m Gonna Let It Shine

In the famous Sermon on the Mount, Jesus tells His disciples, “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.[…]In the same way, let your light shine before others.” Well, that’s a big responsibility! When people look at us, they should see the light of Jesus shining through. It reminds me of an age old song taught in Sunday school: “This little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine…” Well, how do we shine for Jesus? Firstly, we need to continually grow in Him. As we are sharpened and shaped to be more like Christ, we reflect who He is. But it can’t stop there. We not only need to become more like Jesus; we also need to tell others about what He has done for us on the cross. Real Light

As we begin our new series “The Real Real,” I’d like to start our first week off with the question…what does it mean to be real light to those around us? Actually, there is no one better to tell us than Jesus Himself. Our Savior declares about Himself in John 8, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” When we place our trust in Jesus as our Savior and Lord, His light lives in us. And we can shine it in our families, our communities, and our nation. And truly, we need to! There are so many things we try to substitute for it. We believe the lie that passions and success will fill us up with light and life, only to leave us empty. But hallelujah! Jesus made a way for us to have real light through His work on the cross. Gospel Outline Week – Faith

Today, we're coming to the final day of learning an easy-to-remember, hard-to-forget Gospel presentation. We’ve been using the five fingers of our hand as our learning aid. Picture the smallest finger on your hand - it's going to represent faith. Grace, Man, God and Christ, Faith. Faith, in a Biblical sense, is the means whereby people make a personal response to the Gospel. Saving faith isn’t simply head knowledge about Jesus. Many know about Jesus, but have never experienced saving faith. Saving faith is also not just “temporary faith,” trusting in Jesus for health, safety, finances. Saving faith is trusting in Jesus Christ alone for eternal life, and it's necessary for salvation. In the book of Acts, the apostle Paul was asked, “What must I do to be saved?” His answer was this: “Believe – have faith – in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved…” You can watch a brief video demonstrating the Gospel presentation on our website, where you can find resources to help you share your faith.
