John’s Story

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
“You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink.” Well, I’ve learned that you actually can if you have a salt tablet. And for us as Christians, our testimonies are salt tablets. Your salty testimony can make non-Christians thirsty for the water of life. There are at least a couple of key elements to an effective testimony: What was your life like before you received eternal life; how did you receive it, and now that you have it, what’s your life been like since? Allow me to share a brief version of mine:  Before I had eternal life I was absolutely afraid of dying. Then someone shared with me the greatest news about how I could have eternal life and it changed me. I no longer fear death.  I’ve had that confidence ever since and I know that if I died today, I’d go to be with God in Heaven. You can read the rest of it on whatsmystory.org. A Transformed Life

Did you know that you may have hundreds of testimonies? These are the "God stories" of what Jesus has done after coming into your heart. He transforms our lives by replacing our struggles with the fruits of the spirit. Fear turns to peace; sadness turns to joy, loneliness turns to wholeness...the list goes on and on. Take Hannah's story for example, which she shared just last month on whatsmystory.org. Before she had a relationship with Jesus, Hannah feared even going on a trip with her mom because she was afraid that she would get into a car accident. She knew she wouldn't make it to heaven. But then something incredible happened—she heard the Gospel and accepted the free gift of eternal life. God's word gave her peace in knowing that she had the hope of salvation through Jesus Christ. All Shapes and Sizes

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Did you know that you have unique and powerful tool that can help bring people to saving faith in Jesus Christ? It’s your testimony! And they come in all shapes and sizes. But they have something very important in common: they tell of God's faithfulness, grace, and love in each of our lives. Take Alejandro, for example. Before he had eternal life, he had no place to belong. To him, life was all about the next party and any opportunity to chase his own desires. But one night, God spoke to him and asked, "What are you doing??" Alejandro realized that instead of finding the place that he belonged and the fulfillment he was chasing, that really he felt more dissatisfied with his life than ever. He remembered the Gospel that was shared with him earlier in his life, and Alejandro invited God into His heart. Your Story

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Do you realize that God has given you a story to tell? We often refer to it as a testimony but I prefer to call it “your story.” If you have trusted in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, your story of how God saved you and changed you counts. I hope that’s obvious to you. But as I travel the world, I’m often amazed at how many Christians don’t think their story counts for much of anything. I hope you’re not one of those people who thinks their story is lackluster or “no big deal” because that just doesn’t line-up with Scripture. In Revelation 12:11, it says, “And they have defeated him (meaning Satan) by the blood of the Lamb and by their testimony.” According to that verse, your testimony is an incredibly valuable and powerful witnessing tool. Reaching Our Neighbors For Christ

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Are you hesitant to share the Gospel with your neighbors? You know, one day, as my wife and I were out on a walk, a boy who lived next door joined us and told us his mother had moved out earlier that day. Well, it broke my heart. When I saw his father on their porch, I worked up the courage to walk up and tell Bill how sorry I was to hear this. And then I shared that Jesus is the most important thing to me, He had changed my life, giving me peace and comfort during difficult times. Well, Bill looked at me and said, “…you’re a liar.” He said, “You’re my friend, and you’ve lived next to me for five years. You’ve never told me about Jesus!" Well, you know, I had to apologize to Bill for not sharing the Good News sooner. And soon, Bill gave his heart to Jesus. His wife did, too; and they are happily married today. You know, we can make a difference, by telling our communities about the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Maybe you don’t know how? The Mission of the Church

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
“The mission of the Church is to seek and to save them that are lost.” This famous quote from James H. Augey speaks to the purpose of the church. We’re commissioned to share the hope that’s found in Jesus to those who haven’t heard or haven’t accepted it yet. And when the church starts moving, the Holy Spirit shows up. Recently, in Angola, there was a clinic held with 57 participants representing 51 different churches. This training discipled believers in how to share their faith. And in this event, the facilitators asked the participants to reach out to people they knew that didn’t have a relationship with Jesus and then to share the Gospel with them. And by the grace of God, 101 people came to know Christ in the span of just a week. The gates of hell will not prevail against the church, because our mission is to tell the world about Jesus. Share Life Today

Eight years ago, God gave us a vision to use our studios for a daily radio feature. We wanted to help encourage listeners to be active, faithful witnesses for Jesus Christ! So in 2015, we launched Share Life Today, which has only been possible with amazing radio partners — like the station you’re listening to right now! It started with us sharing tips and resources to Christians on one hundred and eighty-one radio stations; and today, God has grown that number to over eight hundred. And this week, we want say “to God be the glory” for this community we are now a part of—radio partners who are passionate about the Gospel being preached. And did you know, God has given you the same kind of opportunity with your personal platforms? He has gifted you with your personality, your job, your friends and family, talents... the list goes on. Be The Church

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
In today's world, it’s common to feel isolated. In an age where it seems we should be the most connected due to the internet, social media, and FaceTime, we actually are less. And as the church, it should be different. We are called to come alongside one another to encourage, edify, and spur each other on. And when we do, our communities are changed to the glory of God. When we encourage each other to grow in our relationship with God through reading the Bible, praying together, coming together in fellowship, worshipping our amazing God, and sharing the Gospel with our communities...well, things change. Neighbors are reached out to, coworkers hear about the love of Jesus, and cities start to look just a little different as Christians come together to be the church. That's a beautiful picture. An International Community

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Most of us want to reach our communities for Jesus; but in the case of McClean Bible Church, the vision expanded even further than that! Nestled in the heart of Washington, D.C, this church decided that they wanted to engage their whole area with the Gospel. More than two thousand members, many of which come from different countries, have been trained to share their faith through Evangelism Explosion. And as they bring the Good News of Jesus into their neighborhood, they are engaging with people from around the world. Sunny Bender, their Director of Evangelism Training, said, "Knowing what you believe and being able to share with others are two different things. Our team members are great examples because they have the power of the Gospel ready!" And as the congregation has shared their faith, it has greatly impacted their community, their city, and the world for the glory of Christ. A Fulfilling Life

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
On a scale from one to ten, how fulfilling would you say your life is? The lower the number; the less fulfilled you may be. Take a moment and think about your answer. Would a stronger relationship with God move that number up or down? Well, I've asked these questions many times in conversations; and more often than not, I hear people say they think that knowing God would bring their number up! It makes sense—Jesus Himself says in John 10:10, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." So, how can we have this fulfilling relationship with Jesus? We need to put our trust in the unfailing and unshakeable work He did on the cross when He died for you and for me. The Bible says, "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Will you make that decision today?
