A Fulfilling Life

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
On a scale from one to ten, how fulfilling would you say your life is? The lower the number; the less fulfilled you may be. Take a moment and think about your answer. Would a stronger relationship with God move that number up or down? Well, I've asked these questions many times in conversations; and more often than not, I hear people say they think that knowing God would bring their number up! It makes sense—Jesus Himself says in John 10:10, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." So, how can we have this fulfilling relationship with Jesus? We need to put our trust in the unfailing and unshakeable work He did on the cross when He died for you and for me. The Bible says, "If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Will you make that decision today? Rotten Egg

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
How good is good enough to go to heaven? Well, someone once answered this question to me with a batch of chocolate chip cookies. You can put the highest quality of ingredients in the batter; but if you use just one rotten egg, it ruins the whole batch. Just like a bad egg in a cookie batch, even one sin ruins our chances of getting into heaven with a perfect and holy God. Habakkuk says that God cannot tolerate our sin. But despite this, there is good news! God loves us, and wants to save us from our sin. So while we are not good enough to go to heaven on our own works, Jesus lived a perfect life and offered Himself as a sacrifice in our place. What we have to do is accept God's gift of grace! A Just Judge

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Let's suppose I stood before a judge with fifty thousand parking tickets; and in my opportunity to speak, I asked the judge, "your Honor, would you please let me go? I promise I’ll be a perfect driver from now on." Do you think that judge should declare me free? If he or she did, they couldn’t be considered a just judge. The reason I share this illustration is that it is the same decision God is faced with when looking at our sin. Yes, He loves us and doesn't want to punish us; but on the other hand, He is just and must punish sin. Do you see the problem? Well, God solved this problem in the person of Jesus Christ, who lived an absolutely perfect life, died on the cross to pay for our sins, and all we have to do is put our trust in Jesus alone to be declared righteous in God's sight. Never Failing Hope

Have you ever put your hope in another person? Well, if that person is trustworthy, it’s fine! But here's the problem with placing your hope in other people: sometimes, they let you down. But I am here to tell you that placing your hope in Jesus will never result in you being let down. Lamentations 3 says this: Therefore I have hope. Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. What a wonderful thing, to know that your hope for eternal life in Heaven can be certain because Jesus is faithful! If you don't have this hope yet, look to Jesus. His mercies never fails. You Can Be Certain

What are you completely certain about? You can be sure the sun will rise to the east and set to the west. You can be sure that one plus one will always equal two. And you can be absolutely certain that you cannot get into Heaven because of the good things you've done. Now, before you write that off as a calloused statement or simply an opinion, consider what the Bible says. The Bible tells us that no one is good, not even one. It also says to be perfect, just as your Father in Heaven is perfect. It is a real problem for us if no one is good, yet we are expected to be perfect. We simply cannot do it! This problem is solved by the Person of Jesus Christ who was both God and Man - perfect, just and full of grace. You can be certain that placing your faith in Jesus is enough for eternal salvation. Filled With Freedom

“I have a home, a career, I sleep well and I'm free...” That quote can be found on what’s my story dot org in a testimony by a man named Maurice. He served in the US Army but felt like he had no hope for the future. After his deployment, he became addicted to drugs and alcohol. He said that when he began seeking Jesus, his life did a one eighty. Jesus brings freedom from our past and replaces despair with hope and the desire for others to know Him as well. Romans 6:22 says this: "But now that you have been set free from sin and become slaves to God, the benefit you reap leads to holiness, and the result is eternal life." Stuck In A Rut

Do you feel stuck in the same pattern, sin, selfishness? Erica says she was saved as a teenager, but over time, turned away from the Lord. And after running from Him, she cried out once again and said that God was healing her of her past hurts and freeing her from the bondages that kept her imprisoned. You see, Jesus came so that we may have life and life more abundantly. If you're feeling stuck in a rut that you just can't get out of, cry out to the Lord. Be Free

If you're a citizen of the United States, you are free. Now, you're probably not free because you've earned it, are you? Of course not - your freedom as an American is because of the men and women who put their lives on the line, many giving the ultimate sacrifice by dying for our freedom. You know, that's a lot like our freedom in Jesus. When we accept Christ, we become free from sin and its penalty. Angie said that despite her past marked with addiction and depression, she began to feel freedom when she finally cried out to Jesus. We cannot be free from our sin without admitting our need for Jesus to pay our penalty. Ephesians 3:12 says, "Through faith in Him, we may approach God with freedom and confidence." Are You A Patriot?

It’s been said that the most patriotic thing that we can do is win our neighbor to Christ. First Corinthians 3:17 says, “Where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.” And today, we celebrate the Fourth of July in the United States. We understand that freedom is the birthright of every American. But this Bible verse talks about another freedom, freedom that only God can give, freedom from the chains of sin through Jesus Christ. Jesus was crucified on a cross to pay for this freedom. And the ideal way we can honor that is to be witnesses for Jesus. As you prepare to celebrate the Birthday of our nation, think of the legacy we are leaving future generations. Born Free

This time of year, we're reminded of freedom and how blessed we are to be free. You see red, white and blue nearly everywhere in June and July here in the States. Now, why is that? Well, see, there's a sense of patriotic pride, all because we're free. But far better than any sort of political freedom that may be given is the freedom found in Christ. Second Corinthians 5:17 says that if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation. And new creations are free from past mistakes because of the cross work of Jesus Christ! It's truly a miracle—Jesus bringing dead hearts to life and setting captives free. So, who can you share the freedom that you've found in Christ with? If our freedom as a nation is worth celebrating, how much more should we celebrate our freedom from sin!
