Jesus, Our Emmanuel
Thursday Dec 21, 2023
Thursday Dec 21, 2023
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
“Therefore, the Lord Himself will give you a sign; A virgin will conceive, and give birth to a Son, and will call Him Emmanuel, which means God with us." This prophecy from Isaiah 7 came hundreds of years before Jesus stepped foot on earth. God promised that He Himself would come to be with us. And the truth is, if Jesus never had come, we would still be dead in our sins. We would have no way to come before an all-holy God and expect to get into heaven. The Bible says clearly, "For the wages of sin is death..." But praise be to God, He had a plan. He loved us so much that He humbled Himself, took on flesh, and dwelt among us. Emmanuel. Who lived the perfect life that we couldn't, took our sins upon Himself, and died with them on the cross. Now, He offers the free gift of eternal life to anyone who puts their trust in Him. Precious Treasures From Afar

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Some of the most interesting characters in the Christmas story didn't even show up right when Christ was born. The Magi are known for journeying to Jesus after seeing the star announcing His birth. In Numbers 24, there is a prophecy that "a star would come out of Jacob"—and this was speaking about both a literal star as well as pointing toward the Messiah, Jesus, who was a descendant of Jacob. The Magi waited and watched the sky for generations. And the minute they beheld the star, they gathered up precious treasures; and they traveled about two years to find the Messiah they had been waiting for. What talents and gifts has God given you? How can you use them to proclaim the Good News of the Gospel? God hasn't given us a star to communicate the Savior now—He's given His children the Holy Spirit and has commissioned us to tell others about eternal life in Him. The Angels’ Song
Tuesday Dec 19, 2023
Tuesday Dec 19, 2023
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
“Angels we have heard on high, sweetly singing over the plain. And the mountains in reply, echoing their joyous strains." Whenever I hear this song, I can't help but picture what it was like when it happened all those years ago at Jesus' birth. I live in North Carolina, and we’re surrounded by mountains. When you see how majestic and grand they are, it's hard to imagine a song so loud and sung by so many beings that it literally echoes from the mountains—probably surpassing our loudest concerts and football games. It makes sense why the shepherds literally shook in fear when they saw this scene and heard, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth, peace - good will toward men." This worship followed the pronouncement of the Savior's birth. They wanted the world to know the Savior was born. So let's follow the angels' example and not hold back in sharing the Good News of salvation through Jesus! Learn how at www.sharelife.today.

Mary’s Faith
Tuesday Dec 19, 2023
Tuesday Dec 19, 2023
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
“I am the Lord’s servant,” Mary answered. “May your words to me be fulfilled.” In the first chapter of Luke, we read the story of Mary who was told by the angel Gabriel that she would conceive and give birth to a son named Jesus—even though she was a virgin. I can’t even imagine what the teenage Mary must have felt or thought about this. When Gabriel first appeared to her, the Bible recounts that she was greatly troubled. But after hearing what the angel said, Mary very humbly—and in great faith!—replies that she is willing to serve God and trust His plan wholeheartedly. Let’s learn from Mary that we too can walk in faith despite our circumstances. Because when we step out to do the hard things for God, like sharing our faith, God's perfect plan is furthered. We have resources to help you tell others the Gospel like our program, The Christ of Christmas, that shares about Jesus and salvation. Visit our website at www.sharelife.today.

Don’t Keep Silent
Friday Dec 15, 2023
Friday Dec 15, 2023
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
"...When the shepherds had seen Him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them." At just the right time, Jesus came to this earth, humbly and quietly as a child. All of Heaven had been anticipating this moment and like wildfire, the news spread across the country because the shepherds told everyone who would listen about the child. Everyone who heard the news was amazed! Have you ever thought, though, “What if the shepherds had kept quiet?” Well, our world would certainly look different. If they had kept the news of the Messiah coming to earth to themselves, they would have missed out on so much. Now here’s the question for you and me…what if we remain silent? Let’s spread Good News of great joy this Christmastime to all who will hear. And if you need help in getting started, we have resources and tips for you at our website at share life dot today. That’s www.sharelife.today.

Can you believe it's almost here? Christmas is coming! And while the Christmas season may be flying by at lightning speed for you, there is always so much anticipation around this time of year. Can you imagine the anticipation before the first Christmas? The whole world was waiting, all of Heaven was leaning in, anticipating the moment God would become man and make a way for us to be reconciled to Him. And with a baby's first cry, it was finally here! The first Christmas and the greatest gift the world would ever be given. You know, all too often, we anticipate the Christmas season, but we don't focus on the first Christmas. As you go through the next few days, make Christmas holy in your heart. Choose to think about the first Christmas and the greatest gift of all. And to celebrate what Christ has done, share the gift of the Gospel. Good News of Great Joy
Monday Dec 11, 2023
Monday Dec 11, 2023
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
The gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ. Do you remember the angels saying to the shepherds: “I bring you good news of great JOY?!” Well, people need that Good News. While the traditional practice of exchanging gifts is in full swing, remember to share about the greatest gift ever given — eternal life through Jesus Christ. It’s not something that we can earn and it’s certainly not something that we deserve it because we are all sinners and our sin separates us from an all Holy God. But the Good News is that God solved our problem by sending His Son to die on the cross to pay for our sins and purchase a place for us in Heaven. This gift is received by faith. If you haven’t received this gift, don’t let another Christmas go by. And if you’ve already received this gift, share it with someone else. We have resources to help you do that like our program, The Christ of Christmas. Visit our website at www.sharelife.today.

The Best Gift
Friday Dec 08, 2023
Friday Dec 08, 2023
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 8:9, "...though [Jesus] was rich, yet for our sakes he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich." The wealth Paul is talking about in this passage…it isn't your finances—he's talking about the gift of eternal life. When Jesus came to this earth humbly as a baby, He traded the wealth of Heaven for the poverty of this world. But He did it so that we might become rich and have the opportunity to accept the free gift of eternal life. So this Christmas season, give the best gift of all by sharing with your friends and family Jesus. Share that Jesus came to take our poverty and adopt us as children of God. He became "obedient unto death, even death on a cross" to give us abundant and everlasting life through Him. And in response, we gratefully praise Him and share this Good News with others! Need help?
