God Speaks

The Bible is the most widely distributed book—and also the least read. There are millions of professing believers who have not yet discovered the joy and spiritual benefits of digging deeply into the Word of God. It is an inexhaustible treasure trove of wisdom. From the opening chapters of Genesis to the last chapter of Revelation, the God of the Bible is the God who speaks. And He uses His Word as a primary means to do so in our lives. So, if we are not seeking to hear God's voice through reading the Bible, we are missing out on some major growth in our Christian walk. Today is the day to begin growing in this area! Let's open God's Word and listen to what He has to say. And as we grow, let's always be mindful to share with others what God is doing in our lives. Who Is In My Community

"But who is my neighbor?" Do you remember the story Jesus told of the Good Samaritan? He told this parable to emphasize that anyone can be your neighbor. It's your job to show the love of God to anyone you meet. So who is your neighbor? Well, who’s in your community? You could be thinking that you're not involved enough to know, but you may be more connected than you think. Do you have a gym you go to? Or a book club? Perhaps there’s a coffee shop that you frequent? Well, those people at the gym, in your club, and at that coffee shop all need to know about God’s amazing gift of salvation! So, what can you do to better represent Him and share the Gospel with those around you? Ask God to open your eyes to the community He’s placed around you and ask for opportunities to share with them the love of Jesus Christ. The Making of a Mentor

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
What is spiritual multiplication, and why is it important? In 2 Timothy 2:2, Paul writes, "And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful people who will be able to train others..." When we share the Gospel and disciple others, we start this important multiplication process. Our spiritual journey isn't finished when we come to know Christ as our Savior. In fact, it’s only the beginning! And it is our responsibility and privilege to tell others the Gospel and help them spiritually grow in their walk. And as more and more believers come to faith in Christ and then grow in their relationship with Him, they too will take up the call of sharing with and discipling others. The old saying goes, "Give a man a fish, and he will eat for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he will eat for a lifetime." It is better to train a soul-winner than to merely win a soul! Invest Your Time

Businessman Harvey Mackay famously wrote, "Time is free, but it’s priceless. You can’t own it, but you can use it. You can’t keep it, but you can spend it. Once you’ve lost it you can never get it back." You know, the Word of God tells us the very same thing throughout its many books—that time is precious and should be used wisely. The Author of Time has given us each moment to be used for a purpose. So let me ask you, what are you spending your time on? If you've put your trust in Jesus, one day you’re going to have eternity to spend with Him. But there’s one thing very important that you can't do any more for His kingdom, and that is to share the Gospel with a person who doesn't yet know Him. The Great Commission’s Focus

The focus of Jesus’ Great Commission is not in making converts, but rather in making disciples.  This was the mark of His ministry on earth, and this is the mark of the mentors we need in the Church today. So, please don't hear me wrong. It is absolutely vital that we share our faith and that everyone gets an opportunity to hear the Gospel. But once they do make a decision to give their life to Christ, we want to equip and disciple them as a new believer. We can't just leave them were they're at and carry on with our lives! It's important for us to give the new believer a track to run on — as Paul modeled for us throughout the New Testament when he encourages believers to run the race and keep the faith. We have the privilege of being disciple-makers across the generations. And it starts with our willingness to share the Gospel. Make the Connection

If you’ve made the decision to ask Jesus to be your Savior and Lord, let me ask you…how did you first hear about Jesus? More than likely, it was because someone talked to you about Him—who He is and what He did on the cross to forgive us of our sins! Whether it was a family member, a friend, a pastor, or even a stranger, someone made a connection with you so you could hear the Gospel. It may have been even several people throughout your life who helped you make the important decision to put your faith in Jesus. Did you know? In a study we did with Lifeway Research, 66% of Americans say they are open or very open to having a conversation about the Christian faith with a friend. Faith Like A Child

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Just like adults, children need the hope of the Gospel. When they come to faith in Jesus, it changes everything for them. Jesus told His disciples in Luke eighteen, "Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, many churches attended a training to learn how to disciple the children of their churches with the Gospel. As practice for the training, they went house to house sharing the Gospel. Children all along the way decided to follow them up to the church where the workshop was being held. In two afternoons, they shared the Gospel to four hundred and eighteen children and adults; and among them, three hundred and fifty-five made professions of Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Standing In The Gap

In a rural village in Peru, a church decided to start to prioritize discipling the children in their church. They decided to teach them in all the ways to grow—from Bible reading to knowing the key points of the Gospel and how to share their faith. And these third through fifth graders boldly went back to their village and started sharing with the adults in their community—from shop keepers to neighbors of theirs. And guess what? Adults started making professions of faith in Jesus! These children have had a tremendous impact in their village. And their mentors said this about them: "We thank God for this generation that stands in the gap and takes on the challenge to go and share with those who still do not know Jesus." And guess what? Children Changing Their Community

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Torosso is a humble village with a large population of children in Africa. The "little g" god of that village is named “kilè.” The pastor, who’s the head of all of the churches in this area, said, “People are looking for the good God, but they don’t know how or where [to find Him]. So they’re living in spiritual darkness from generation to generation.” However, something big happened! One year, the church grew to over two hundred children. The children of the village started to understand that “kilè” is not the good or true god, so most of them joined the church to find out more about Jesus. And at their new church, the Gospel was not only shared with the children, but they’re also being discipled in it. This will impact these children’s lives for eternity, and the pastor believes these children will change their village to the glory of God. Children and Living Water

Did you know that children are thirsty for the same Living Water that Jesus offers to all? They experience the same broken world that we as adults do — and they need the hope and love found only in Jesus. By The Hand, a non-profit that operates in Chicago, believes this whole-heartedly — so much so that they hold a Hope For Kids club for more than five hundred children every year. And as they walk through the Gospel each week, they see many of those children give their hearts and lives to Jesus. Bethany, a child who received Christ as her Savior through coming to the club, said, "I gave my life to Jesus because He died on the cross for me, He cares for me, He listens to me when I’m down." Her relationship with Jesus has changed everything for her. So, let's be intentional to share with the children in our communities and churches the Gospel, bringing them life, truth, and hope.
