Invest Your Time

How are you investing your time? You know, it's easy (especially at the end of a work week) to just want to sit back and relax. But God has specifically gifted us with the time that we have. God’s Leading Hand

Andy Stanley said, “Everybody ends up somewhere in life. You see, every one of us is desperately in need of guidance. A few people end up somewhere on purpose.” The goal of most people’s lives is to arrive at death safely. Is that your goal? Oh, you might get through life—everybody does, one way or the other. But that doesn’t mean that you are going to accomplish anything of any eternal worth in the sight of Christ. For without Him, He told us, we can do nothing. But here’s the thing: Not only does God promise us His guidance, but also He provides that guidance and has done so from the very beginning. He led Enoch on a walk that took him all the way to Heaven. He led Joseph from a dungeon to the throne of Egypt. He led David from keeping the sheep to sitting upon the throne of Israel. Don’t Get Stuck

Do you remember the day when God was about to take Elijah up to Heaven? On the journey, Elijah and Elisha stopped at several places. Each time, Elijah offered for Elisha to stay there, but Elisha refused. Gilgal was where Elisha was from. For him, it was the starting line. Jericho was a place of a grand triumph for God’s people. But Elisha refused to stay put at the beginning, not growing, or in past victories. He traveled with Elijah over the Jordan River and saw God take him up to Heaven. In a sense, Elisha crossed over a servant but came back a prophet. He gave up his life to the Lord’s service and, in turn, got a new and better life. So my question for us today is: are we stuck not growing or simply celebrating past victories? Or are we committed to giving up our whole life to the Lord for His service—living for Him and sharing the Gospel? For resources, visit www.sharelife.today.

Living For Others

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Sami grew up in Beirut, Lebanon, determined to live for himself. He would work hard, make a lot of money, and live life his way. Soon, he was working as a waiter at an international hotel when he met an elderly couple. They were always looking for opportunities to share their faith. After one year of seeing the couple, Sammy finally listened to the Gospel and gave his heart to Christ. His life plan changed. Now, he would live life for others. Sometime later, he met another young man in the hotel lounge. Sami befriended, shared the Gospel with, and helped him to see what his life could be with Christ. That man’s name is Franklin Graham. Today, Sami is now a pastor of a church of around thirty thousand people in Lebanon. What started as an elderly couple simply determined to live for others has led to many thousands, perhaps millions, who have been blessed by what God has done through Franklin and Sammy. Making God Proud

Well Done. Now, those are two words we all want to hear. Whether in this life or eternity with Christ, we want to be told, “I’m proud of you! You did it! Well done!” It is not much different from when my grandchildren try to get my attention and acknowledgment. They could be riding a bike or sliding into a pool, but they always cry out, “Watch me! Watch me, Grandpa!” They want to know that I am seeing what they are doing so, in turn, I can tell them how proud I am of what they have done. Well, I want to encourage you today—God is watching you. He is watching your actions, and one day He will tell you, His precious child, “Well done. I’m so proud of you.” He wants you to live a life full of love and full of Him. Hearing “Well Done”

When you arrive in Heaven, do you want to hear God say, “Well done, good and faithful servant”? Now I know I do! And while we know that God is the “author and finisher of our faith,” the truth is that finishing strong isn’t something that just happens. It has to be worked on. And one way we can finish strong is to share our faith. Because one of the last commands Jesus left us was to “go and preach the gospel with everyone.” So when we share our faith intentionally, we bear eternal fruit. People will give their lives to God. This isn’t just good news for a moment—it is good news for eternity! And praying with others to receive the free gift of eternal life is frankly one of the greatest joys that we, as believers, can experience. Your Unique Talent

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
James 1:17 says, "Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father..." Did you know you have a unique talent that you can bring to the body of Christ? It's true—we all have different God-given gifts that are important and can be used for God's Kingdom. And we should use these as faithful servants of God's grace to serve others as Peter reminds us in first Peter chapter four. We were given them for a distinct purpose of bringing glory to God and sharing His love. For example, let’s say you are a great cook, consider using those skills to prepare meals for those going through a difficult time and offer them that’s hope found only in Christ. I knew a sand-sculptor who crafted sculptures related to the Gospel on the beach and stood around to talk to people about them. Growing Through Giving

For Christians, growth and generosity go hand in hand. Psalm 112:5 tells us, “Good will come to those who are generous...” Well, why do generosity and growth go together? If our aim is to be more like Jesus, well we need to model after His generous nature. He, in fact, is the most giving Person ever to be, for God Himself became a man, lived a perfect life, and died on the cross in payment for our sins. And if we place our trust in Him alone, He gives us the free gift of eternal life. And in Jesus’ ministry on earth, He gave His time to share with and forgive the ones that others spurned: the woman at the well, the lepers, the blind and the lame, and the tax collector Matthew, to name a few. And their lives were eternally changed. So let’s grow to be like Jesus by giving our time and resources so that others might hear the Gospel.
