He Carries Our Burdens

Are you excited for the Christmas season? Or are these days a little harder for you? Many people find that the time leading up to Christmas can be challenging and the joy can be lacking—especially after experiencing a big loss in their life. It may make this season not be so merry and bright. But can I encourage you with something from God's Word? In his prophecy about Christ's coming to earth, Isaiah wrote in chapter nine, "The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of deep darkness a light has dawned. [...] For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given." This child was none other than Christ the Lord, Who is our Prince of Peace and has promised to carry our burdens. And I myself have experienced this joy and peace that passes all understanding that can only come from Him. And we have the privilege to share this with those that are hurting around us. The Lost Coin

"Suppose a woman has ten silver coins and loses one. Doesn’t she light a lamp, sweep the house and search carefully until she finds it?" This is how Jesus began an important parable in Luke chapter fifteen about a woman who searched for a coin with great care. After she found it, she called her neighbors and friends over to rejoice with her. Did you know that over every sinner who repents and believes there is also rejoicing in Heaven? Just as the angels sang with great joy over Christ's birth, they also celebrate over us making that decision. In this season of Christmas, we celebrate the One who makes this possible. The Bible says, "For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” As His children, we have the privilege of being a part of His saving grace! Don’t Keep Silent

"...When the shepherds had seen Him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them." At just the right time, Jesus came to this earth, humbly and quietly as a child. All of Heaven had been anticipating this moment and like wildfire, the news spread across the country because the shepherds told everyone who would listen about the child. Everyone who heard the news was amazed! Have you ever thought, though, “What if the shepherds had kept quiet?” Well, our world would certainly look different. If they had kept the news of the Messiah coming to earth to themselves, they would have missed out on so much. Now here’s the question for you and me…what if we remain silent? Choosing Joy

What’s your favorite thing about the Christmas season? Many people love the cheerful music, the sweet treats, and holiday gatherings with family and friends. And whether this year has been a difficult or wonderful one for you, the joy remains the same if you know Jesus. Why is that? Because no matter what this season brings for you, Jesus is the reason you can have great joy! Spend some time over the course of the next week focusing on the joy of the season - on the joy of the Gospel! And do you know what? If you’ll do that, others will see your joy and will want it, too! Choosing joy at all times — especially in a difficult year — can open up many opportunities to share how Jesus has made all the difference in your life for eternity. Good News of Great Joy

The gift of God is eternal life in Jesus Christ. Do you remember the angels saying to the shepherds: “I bring you good news of great JOY?!” Well, people need that Good News. While the traditional practice of exchanging gifts is in full swing, remember to share about the greatest gift ever given — eternal life through Jesus Christ. It’s not something that we can earn and it’s certainly not something that we deserve it because we are all sinners and our sin separates us from an all Holy God. But the Good News is that God solved our problem by sending His Son to die on the cross to pay for our sins and purchase a place for us in Heaven. This gift is received by faith. If you haven’t received this gift, don’t let another Christmas go by. And if you’ve already received this gift, share it with someone else. Thankful Every Day

So Thanksgiving is now over, and we move on to a new season...but did you know that our gratitude should continue? You can know from even a simple search online how being thankful each day can benefit us both mentally and physically. But that's not what I'm talking about. As Christians, we're thankful each and every day because God doesn’t change. Whether it's Thanksgiving where we're focused on being grateful for how He has provided for us or the week after where we go back to our "normal" way of life, we should be grateful. Because you know what? God is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow—and His love for us continues each new day. And we can share our gratitude with others by telling them what Jesus has done for them on the cross! So let's make it a priority to be thankful each and every day. The True History of Thanksgiving

Happy Thanksgiving! Have you heard the history behind this celebrated day? Well, in the fall of 1621, when their labors were rewarded with a bountiful harvest of food—and this is after a year of sickness and scarcity!—the Pilgrims gave thanks to God. And in seventeen eighty-nine, our first president, George Washington, established Thanksgiving as a national holiday, and it was celebrated for the first time under this new Constitution. Two hundred and thirty years later, we too have many reasons to be grateful to God as we celebrate Thanksgiving Day today. I know I am thankful for His grace and mercy. And even though I’m a sinner, He died to take my sins away. And now I have a fulfilling life through my relationship with Jesus. So let’s be praying and looking for opportunities to share the true meaning of Thanksgiving and our gratitude for Jesus. For help in getting started, visit our website at sharelife.today.

Thankful Prayer

When you woke up this morning, did you thank God? You know, we as Christians don't thank God enough, do we? As Christians, we're of course thankful for the life God has given us, but we probably take a lot for granted. It's easy to get into a routine and go through the motions without thinking, "hey! God gave me this day, this life!" Prayer and thankfulness are incredibly important in our Christian walk. Let's be more intentional to tell God how thankful we are for who He is and what He has done! I have a challenge for you. Every day this week, before you get out of bed in the morning, take a couple minutes to just thank God. First, thank Him for who He is. Thank Him for His grace and love and for giving you eternal life. Focus on how good He is at the start of everyday and watch how that will change your outlook — and your life! Faith and Thanksgiving

Faith and thanksgiving go hand-in-hand. Thanksgiving is a wonderful time for families to remember the many blessings that God has bestowed upon all of us, especially God’s grace through Jesus Christ. This special holiday provides natural opportunities to share the Gospel. Here’s a few ideas as you prepare for the holiday: first, invite family members to a Thanksgiving service at your church. Or when you ask others what they’re most thankful for, share how you’re thankful for your relationship with God. This would be a perfect opportunity for you to share your testimony of how He has impacted your life. If you dine out for Thanksgiving, ask your server how you can pray for them before saying grace over your meal. Then you could leave a Gospel tract with your tip. Thankful Right Now

In a year full of twists and turns with uncertainty abounding, I am so thankful for the certain hope of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Are you thankful for that, too? Instead of focusing on what’s gone wrong and how many things have changed, fix your eyes on Jesus, who never changes. Hear this reminder from Philippians 4:6-7: "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Did you hear that? In EVERY situation, yes even right now, we can be thankful and Jesus will give you the peace you need. So, as we go into the holiday season, be thankful in all the circumstances that you’ve been given the free gift of eternal life by accepting Jesus Christ.
