Prayer is God’s Plan

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
You know, we often say at Evangelism Explosion that witnessing without prayer is presumption. Before we ever start looking for opportunities to share the Gospel, we should be coming before God, asking for His guidance and wisdom. Jesus Himself told us in John 15, "If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you." Elisabeth Elliot said, "Prayer lays hold of God's plan and becomes the link between his will and its accomplishment on earth." And you know what the Bible says is part of God's will for our lives? It's that we would be bold witnesses and share with others what Christ has done for them. So let me challenge you: start praying for your friends and family that you’ll see over the holidays and watch God orchestrate ways you can start spiritual conversations and then share the Gospel with them. That Time of The Year

It's that time of the year again! Many events are happening this week in communities across the country. Whether it's a trunk-or-treat, a Fall Festival, a pumpkin patch, or trick-or-treating, I want to encourage you — look for opportunities to share the love of Christ. The Gospel is always needed, no matter the time of year, holiday, or circumstance. We need to be intentional as Christians and share what Jesus has done with those around us. If you're attending a party, seek out meaningful conversations that could lead to sharing how Christ has changed your life and given you eternal security. If you're giving out candy, consider handing out some Gospel tracts, too. Pray for the Holy Spirit to give you opportunities to share; and when they come, talk about the hope you've found in Christ. Light the Night

Are you afraid of the dark? Well, during this time of year, there is a lot of emphasis on the spooky and dark side of things. But don't be scared of it! Instead, shine the light of Jesus on the darkness in our world. Now, how do you spread some light? First, we need to know God's Word. Psalm 119 and verse 105 says: “Your Word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path...” So don't dwell on the darkness! Walk with your path illuminated by God's Word and take every chance you can to spread His Word to others, especially in times like we’re in right now. Here's a tip: this Halloween, light up someone's night by sharing a Bible verse that God has laid on your heart. Ask them engaging spiritual questions that could lead to a Gospel conversation. To the Gospel Advantage

Candy, ghosts, goblins and... the Gospel? How are these things related? Well, they're not, BUT we are coming up on Halloween, and that means we are surrounded by all things black and orange and full of sugar. How should Christians choose to respond to this holiday? It's really a controversial topic and while you should always listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit and pay attention to the convictions He places on your heart, every believer ought to be able to agree that we are here to bring the light of Jesus into the darkness. One of the ways you can do that this week is by taking advantage of the holiday. Take advantage of the fact that friends are getting together or your neighbors are out and about more. The Call to Reach the World

Roger Lonnquist, founder of the New Life Africa Satellite Network that broadcasts Share Life Africa to 53 radio stations in 15 countries, has a deep passion for reaching people with the message of Jesus. He said, “There is an immense hunger in Africa for the Gospel… and we need to present the Gospel so they can hear it, present teaching so they can grow, and go forward in their faith.” That same hunger exists all over the world — people searching for truth, for hope, for a Savior. And God has called each of us to be part of meeting that need. When we share the Gospel, God uses it to change lives. The Holy Spirit knocks on the door of their hearts and invites them to be transformed through trusting in what Jesus did on the cross for them. The Rising Mission Force

Brad and Doug Hutchcraft have a heart for discipling young believers, especially among indigenous communities. Brad shared, “And so to see some of those that we work with saying, ‘I wanna reach my people, but I also want to not just be the mission field. I want to be part of the mission force. Because I’ve got hope to share.’” That’s the power of discipleship. When people encounter Jesus, He not only saves them—He sends them. Around the world, indigenous young people are taking the Gospel back to their tribes, their towns, and even across nations. They’re showing what it looks like to turn from being the mission field into being the mission force. And that’s exactly what Jesus called us to do: to make disciples who make disciples. The next generation of Gospel-bearers is already rising up—let’s be the ones to equip them as they take the hope of Christ to their people and beyond. God Shows Up

Doug Hutchcraft reminds us that sharing our faith isn’t something we do alone. He said, “When you say, ‘I’m gonna obey the Great Commission, I’m gonna share His heart and I’m gonna share my faith.’ He will show up.” That’s the promise Jesus gave us — “Go and make disciples of all nations... and surely, I am with you always.” When we obey His call to share the Gospel, God’s presence and power go with us. It’s in those moments of faith-filled obedience to share our faith that we see Him work — softening hearts, opening doors, and changing lives. You may not feel qualified or confident, but remember this: when you take the step to speak about Jesus, you’re never stepping out alone. The God who sent you goes with you — and He will show up. Infectious Faith

Someone’s Chance at Jesus

Ron Hutchcraft, evangelist and founder of Ron Hutchcraft Ministries, reminds us that sharing the Gospel isn’t optional — it’s our calling. He said, “You are here on mission for Jesus. He has literally placed you in your friend’s life. Would you tonight look in the mirror and say these words, ‘I am someone’s chance. I am someone’s chance at Jesus.’” That’s a sobering thought — and an inspiring one. God has strategically placed you in your workplace, your school, your neighborhood, even your family. None of those relationships are accidents but opportunities to be a living witness for Him. When we realize that, every conversation takes on eternal significance. You are a messenger of hope, carrying the Gospel to a world that desperately needs Jesus. Testifying to God’s Faithfulness

Jim Sanders, Executive Vice President of Ambassador Advertising, shared about how He has seen God’s faithfulness in his own life, “God's blessing has been beyond anything I could have imagined. In between, we started a satellite delivery company called Ambos. And it's clear based on who I am and who we are, that God's hand was in it every step of the way.” Through Ambos, God used Jim and his team to help Christian radio grow—pushing Gospel content to stations around the world. Jim could see God’s hand in it all. And the same is true in our lives. When we look back, we see God’s faithfulness—how He’s guided and transformed us since we placed our trust in Him alone. And sharing our “God stories” can open doors to Gospel conversations. So today, tell someone how God’s been faithful to you—and then share the Good News.
