Share Your God Story

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Often times, we convince ourselves that no one wants to hear what we have to say even before we say it. But guess what? The Holy Spirit is at work in hearts and lives of the people around us — preparing them to hear the Good News of the Gospel. And we have the privilege to share it. A good way to see if someone is open to hearing more about spiritual things is by sharing the God stories happening right now in your life. You might be thinking right now, "Well, what is a God story?" It is simply telling others the things God is doing in your own life. It could be something like: before you had a relationship with Jesus, you struggled with loneliness. But now that you’re His child, you feel loved and part of the big family of God. Or it could be how God provided in a very difficult situation. Whatever it is, you can use these stories to share the Gospel with others. Holy Spirit Nudge

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Have you ever felt a nudge from the Holy Spirit to witness to someone?  In Acts chapter 8, the Lord tells Philip to go and talk to someone. Philip went where he was told and found a man reading Scripture. He asked the man if he understood it, and he didn't. Do you think that Phillip was nervous at this point? Sure he was! But he stepped out in faith and made himself available to the man. Turns out, his simple question—"Do you understand?"—was just the right thing to say to start a Gospel conversation. Phillip's obedience gave this man an opportunity to accept Jesus, and he did! In fact, he immediately asked to be baptized. He wanted to proclaim his new faith! So, the next time you feel a need to go speak to someone, but aren't sure what to say, remember Phillip. Remember that God will not lead you to someone and leave you hanging. Ask God

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Have you ever asked a friend a question over the phone, but they didn't hear you? You repeat yourself over and over; but the reception is so bad that all you receive is a loud, "What??" Sometimes, I think this is how we view God answering our prayers. But the truth is, He not only hears us perfectly, but He answers us without fail. It could be that the reason we aren't receiving an answer is because we’re simply not asking. If you ask God to bring us opportunities to tell others the Gospel, guess what? He loves to answer. The Bible says in 1 John 4:15 that "if we ask anything according to His will He hears us." And it is God's desire that every person hear the Good News of what Jesus did on the cross for us. Jump On In

Jump on in! The water's fine! Have you heard that phrase before? Maybe as a child on the edge of a diving board. It was probably pretty exhilarating when you finally jumped in! You know, it's the same way when you take a step of faith. When you took your first step of faith by asking Jesus to be your Lord and Savior, there was rejoicing in Heaven! And just like that, when you step out in faith to share the Gospel, your Father in Heaven is thrilled. Isaiah 41:10 says this: "Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." If God in Heaven is on your side, and He is, then He will help you as you take a step of faith to witness to others. So, don't be afraid! Thy Kingdom Come

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
"Our Father, Who art in Heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven." Have you heard this prayer before? Well, some would say this is perhaps the most famous prayer ever prayed. Jesus said these words when He was teaching His disciples and the people of Israel how to pray during the Sermon on the Mount. Jesus says something surprising during this prayer..."Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done." Well, that makes us ask, what is God's will? What would His kingdom look like here on earth? In the Bible, He actually tells us. It would be every nation, tongue, and people group standing before God and praising Him! And Jesus gave us a job to make it happen. "Go and make disciples of all the nations." So how do we do that? Well first, we must pray, and then we must actually share with those around us the Good News of the Gospel! Not sure where to start? Yes, No, Wait

"Yes!...No...Wait." These are the three answers we hear from God when we ask Him for things in prayer. And God loves to answer us. Like a good father here on earth listens and responds to his children, so does our Father in Heaven. He delights in giving us good things that will benefit and grow us! Have you ever heard the phrase, "you have not because you ask not?" The same is true when it comes to prayer. Many believers feel that if God already know their needs, why must they ask for them? Don't forget—when Jesus taught us to pray in the famous Lord's Prayer, He did not hold back on one of the most basic needs of life..."Give us this day our daily bread..." Even asking for family members or friends to believe in Him is a deep need of our hearts. So ask the Lord today to give you opportunities to share, and He will answer. And bring him your needs! Pray the Word

Jesus was hungry. He had been in the wilderness for forty days without eating a single thing. At the height of His physical weakness, the enemy crept close to Him and said, "If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” That was the first of three temptations Jesus fought against that day. But He answered confidently with the Scripture, "It is written: ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but on every word that comes out of the mouth of God.'" Jesus was victorious by knowing the Word of God and hiding it in His heart. So let me encourage you today—make a habit in your life to memorize Scripture and then pray them. The Bible is living and breathing and active in our lives. And it doesn't just change our lives, it can be used to change the lives of those around us! Hide God's Word in your heart. Pray for Peace in Jerusalem

The Bible in Psalm 122 instructs us to pray for peace—and specifically...it says "pray for the peace of Jerusalem." Now, it's possible you could be finding that hard at the moment. In fact, it might seem like true world peace is unattainable. But Jesus is our peace, and that is the peace the world needs right now. Now, you might think I must be naive to say this, because so many people talk about or even promise world peace and it never happens. But I’m here to tell you that true peace is attainable through Jesus, the Prince of peace; and that is the only peace that is everlasting. Jesus told His disciples in John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Hope in Times of Trouble

What we’re seeing in the news today—the horror of what’s happening is Israel—if we’re honest with ourselves…can bring turmoil to our hearts. Sometimes it can feel like all hope is lost. When times seem bleak, there is a place that we can find hope that passes all understanding. It’s through faith in Jesus and Him alone. In the words of the famous C.S. Lewis, "Faith is the art of holding on to things in spite of your changing moods and circumstances." Our hope should be placed in Jesus now more than ever. And that hope that we have is the hope that the world needs. Nothing else can satisfy our thirsty and hurting hearts. The Good News of the Gospel, of what Jesus has done for us on the cross, changes a human life from the inside out. So let me encourage you today: share the hope of the Gospel with those around you. Two Question Marks

How do you start a conversation about Jesus? Sometimes, all it takes is having something to connect over. When Jesus was at the well in Samaria, he started a conversation on spiritual things with the Samaritan woman by using the water in the well! They began talking about physical water through Jesus asking for a drink. By the end of the conversation, Jesus told her that He was the Living Water. The connecting point for believers in Burundi, Africa in twenty twenty began with putting two question marks on their masks. When people asked them what they meant, they jumped headfirst into a Gospel conversation with..."these are the two most important questions we have every been asked! Would it be ok if we shared them with you? If you died tonight, do you know for sure you would go to heaven? And if God asked you, why should I let you into my heaven, what would you say?"
