Faith Like A Child

Just like adults, children need the hope of the Gospel. When they come to faith in Jesus, it changes everything for them. Jesus told His disciples in Luke eighteen, "Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” In the Democratic Republic of the Congo, many churches attended a training to learn how to disciple the children of their churches with the Gospel. As practice for the training, they went house to house sharing the Gospel. Children all along the way decided to follow them up to the church where the workshop was being held. In two afternoons, they shared the Gospel to four hundred and eighteen children and adults; and among them, three hundred and fifty-five made professions of Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Standing In The Gap

In a rural village in Peru, a church decided to start to prioritize discipling the children in their church. They decided to teach them in all the ways to grow—from Bible reading to knowing the key points of the Gospel and how to share their faith. And these third through fifth graders boldly went back to their village and started sharing with the adults in their community—from shop keepers to neighbors of theirs. And guess what? Adults started making professions of faith in Jesus! These children have had a tremendous impact in their village. And their mentors said this about them: "We thank God for this generation that stands in the gap and takes on the challenge to go and share with those who still do not know Jesus." And guess what? Children Changing Their Community

Torosso is a humble village with a large population of children in Africa. The "little g" god of that village is named “kilè.” The pastor, who’s the head of all of the churches in this area, said, “People are looking for the good God, but they don’t know how or where [to find Him]. So they’re living in spiritual darkness from generation to generation.” However, something big happened! One year, the church grew to over two hundred children. The children of the village started to understand that “kilè” is not the good or true god, so most of them joined the church to find out more about Jesus. And at their new church, the Gospel was not only shared with the children, but they’re also being discipled in it. This will impact these children’s lives for eternity, and the pastor believes these children will change their village to the glory of God. Children and Living Water

Did you know that children are thirsty for the same Living Water that Jesus offers to all? They experience the same broken world that we as adults do—and they need the hope and love found only in Jesus. By The Hand, a non-profit that operates in Chicago, believes this whole-heartedly—so much so that they hold a Hope For Kids club for more than five hundred children every year. And as they walk through the Gospel each week, they see many of those children give their hearts and lives to Jesus. Bethany, a child who received Christ as her Savior through coming to the club, said, "I gave my life to Jesus because He died on the cross for me, He cares for me, He listens to me when I’m down." Her relationship with Jesus has changed everything for her. So, let's be intentional to share with the children in our communities and churches the Gospel, bringing them life, truth, and hope. Children And The Gospel

Have you ever thought about how many people one child interacts with throughout the course of his or her life? Children have their whole lives ahead of them. And everywhere they go, they meet people. So, just think, when a child is equipped to share their faith, the Gospel goes everywhere they go. And, have you noticed that children don’t seem to have the same hang-ups talking about Jesus that we adults often have? They don’t worry about what someone will think. They just want their friend or their mom or dad or grandparent to know Jesus – and so they tell them about Him. And in case you’re wondering if it’s really possible for children to share the Gospel, I can tell you from experience with Hope For Kids, our children's evangelism discipleship program, that children can share the Gospel and, dare I say, sometimes even better than some adults. Meet Them Where They’re At

It's time to get creative! The truth is, as a body of Christ, we all bring different skills and passions. And so do the younger people in the church! And we can meet them in the middle and use their passions as a way to disciple them. In Romania, every summer they hold a national camp for a week where they focus on discipling teenagers. And every year, there are around one hundred and twenty students from across Europe—and the world!—who join. They focus on three key areas: equipping them with how to share the Gospel, street evangelism and reaching the community, and sports activities like zip lining, competitions, mountain climbing, and all kinds of sports. Not only are these young people sharing their faith and seeing other’s hearts and lives changed, they are also having a blast doing it! Passing the Baton

Christianity has always been just one generation from extinction. I mean — think about it. All it takes is for one generation to drop the ball for the next generation to miss the opportunity to hear the Good News of Jesus Christ. They cannot pass along what they do not have. And it can happen in just one generation. In Judges 2, an entire generation grew up not knowing the Lord and what He had done for nation of Israel, because the previous generation did not pass it along. So what do we do? How can we engage the younger generation with the Gospel in a way that’s real and personal? Well firstly, we can start by giving children and young adults a strong foundation in the Gospel. And secondly, we can allow them be an integral part in building God's Kingdom right now by helping them share the most exciting gift that they have: their faith. The Great Commission’s Focus

The focus of Jesus’ Great Commission is not in making converts, but rather in making disciples.  This was the mark of His ministry on earth, and this is the mark of the mentors we need in the Church today. So, please don't hear me wrong. It is absolutely vital that we share our faith and that everyone gets an opportunity to hear the Gospel. But once they do make a decision to give their life to Christ, we want to equip and disciple them as a new believer. We can't just leave them were they're at and carry on with our lives! It's important for us to give the new believer a track to run on — as Paul modeled for us throughout the New Testament when he encourages believers to run the race and keep the faith. We have the privilege of being disciple-makers across the generations. And it starts with our willingness to share the Gospel. Discipled and Discipling

Mark Dever says, "The Christian life is the discipled life and the discipling life.” We need both to grow a healthy, full walk with Christ. So let's take our time to study the Word, pray without ceasing, fellowship with other Christians, worship our amazing, Living God, and share our faith with others. And even better if these things happen under a mentor who has walked with God longer than us! This will set us on a path of being discipled. And then, we ourselves are called to reach out and disciple someone else. This could look like us sharing the Gospel, seeing someone give their life to Christ, and then walking with them in spiritual growth as a new believer. I can personally tell you — experiencing this lights a fire in the soul and an excitement and joy in your walk with Christ! Change The World

Do you know a young person who wants to change the world? Well today, it seems that young people have an endless fountain of passion for impacting the world. And that’s great! But what if we could direct that passion toward transforming the world with the Good News of the Gospel? In the book of Acts, we read about Paul who said, “This Jesus, whom I proclaim to you, is the Christ.” And that message of hope changed the world for all of eternity. And it is our privilege and joy to raise up the next generation, to carry on the Good News of Jesus, and to disciple believers who will carry out Kingdom work. Because they will be impacting the world regardless as their generation become the leaders of churches, businesses, and communities.
