Purpose and Meaning

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Everyone needs real hope, including today’s teens. This was Bryr’s testimony that he shared with us on whatsmystory.org: “Before I received eternal salvation, I struggled with anxiety... In Junior High, I’d have anxiety attacks because I felt different. I was smaller than the other boys, and I couldn’t understand why—or how—to be happy in my own skin. [...] But God placed amazing people in my life who led me to Christ. Through Him, I found purpose and meaning. I no longer suffer from anxiety. I now see that being different isn’t a flaw—it’s part of God’s design. I’ve learned how to use the gifts He gave me to share His Word.” Bryr found purpose and meaning through a relationship with Jesus and now shares that with others. So let’s disciple the teenagers in our churches to do the same—because you never know who in their lives needs the very same hope only found! For more information, visit sharelife.today.

The Ripple Effect
Thursday May 22, 2025
Thursday May 22, 2025
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
When you disciple a teenager to share their faith, you don’t just impact one life—you begin a ripple effect. I mean, think about it: one equipped teen can reach dozens of friends. They can disciple those friends the same way they were—by teaching them how to grow in their faith and share the Gospel with others. And then those friends go out and do the same—it’s multiplication! But discipleship doesn’t happen by accident. It’s intentional. It’s time spent talking with teens, walking them through resources, having practice conversations with them, and praying through fear. It’s reminding teens that sharing the Gospel matters and that others need to hear it. And when they get it, watch out. Because teens don’t just talk—they act. They invite. They post. They pray. They go. But they need someone to show them how. And that someone might be you. Who’s the teenager in your life that needs to be equipped? Let's not miss this opportunity. Teens Are Watching

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Have you ever heard it said that evangelism is better “caught than taught”? Well, it’s true! So when it comes to equipping Christian teenagers, we must actually do what we say we believe. If we’re not living lives marked by bold, loving Gospel conversations, why would they? Discipling teens to share their faith begins with showing them how it’s done and walking with them as they try it for themselves. And that’s why we at EE are so passionate about On-The-Job training, where a trainer shows what having a Gospel conversation is like. And training a teenager to share their faith is about helping them see people the way Jesus does, giving them courage to share the Gospel, and reminding them that the Holy Spirit does the real work. And when teens are discipled, they grow deeper roots and broader reach. They become influencers for Christ in their classrooms, on their sports teams, and communities. The 19%

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
According to Barna research, only 19% of Christian teens say they’ve personally been discipled in how to share their faith. That’s right...less than one in five. And meanwhile, teens are navigating complex cultural conversations every day — conversations about identity, justice, truth — without knowing how to bring Jesus into them. And if we don’t disciple them, the world will and already is. Discipling teens to share their faith isn’t just a “nice-to-have.” It’s essential. And they can absolutely be incredible witnesses for the Kingdom of God. 1 Timothy 4:12 says, “Don’t let anyone look down on you because of your youth...” Let's equip the young people of our church, walk with them, answer their questions, and show them how to talk about their faith confidently. A Young Mission Field

Monday May 19, 2025
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Did you know one of the largest mission fields isn’t across the ocean—but it’s in our own communities and schools? In our high schools, Christian teenagers are surrounded daily by friends and classmates searching for identity, hope, and truth. And yet, many Christian teens feel unprepared to talk about their faith. But how do we disciple our youth to confidently share the Gospel? Well, we need to teach them how to have a Gospel conversation, model for them a life of boldness and compassion through sharing our faith, and help them know why they believe what they believe. Teens are not the Church of tomorrow—they’re the Church of today. And if we equip them now in how to tell others about Jesus, we multiply the Gospel’s reach exponentially. So let's not wait. Let’s raise a generation who can say, “I know Jesus, and I know how to tell my friend about Him too.” If you’d like more information on how to disciple a teenager in evangelism, visit sharelife.today.

Church Icebreaker
Friday May 16, 2025
Friday May 16, 2025
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Can you think of a time when you put your foot in your mouth? I mean, everyone can recall a moment they wanted to blend in with the wall behind them because of something they said. We're all human—it happens! But we don't want that to happen when we share the Gospel. So today, I'd like to share an icebreaker that may be the easiest way to start a spiritual conversation! So one of the easiest ways to start is by bringing up something you've done recently at church. Sharing with somebody how much you love your church and asking them whether or not they go to church is really simple. And it’s an easy follow-up then to say, "Church is important to me because that's where I learned about how I can have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Can I tell you about how that’s changed my life?" Now, you’re going be surprised by how many times you will hear "yes!" People genuinely want to know what’s important to us. Simply Ask
Thursday May 15, 2025
Thursday May 15, 2025
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
A lot of us have fears when it comes to sharing our faith. For many, it’s the thought of saying the wrong thing. If we stumble over our words or something doesn't come out exactly the way we want it, we think that God won't use it. Well, not at all! The Bible shows us time and time again that God can use anyone, even someone who stutters, like Moses, or a long-winded preacher, like Paul! And one of the best ways to break the ice into a spiritual conversation is to simply ask. Asking someone if they've given much thought to spiritual matters, or if they're sure they're going to Heaven one day might be bold, but it gives the other person a chance to really consider their heart condition. Be prayerful about witnessing and trust the Lord to give you the words to speak. He will be faithful to do it! Death, Where Is Your Sting?
Wednesday May 14, 2025
Wednesday May 14, 2025
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
One of the hardest things that we can ever face in life is a close encounter with death. Whether it is ourself or the loss of a loved one, these are life-changing and difficult times. But God can use these very moments to draw us or others to Himself. This is exactly what happened in Barry's life. In college, he met a girl that he admired very much and always wished to meet. Well one day, she was killed in a car accident. Barry was crushed and went to the school's chapel to pray. In that moment, he knew there was something missing in his life but didn't know what it was. Then soon after, he heard the good news of the Gospel, and he put His trust in Christ. Now, he knows for certain that he has eternal life. And that’s changed everything. Sharing a testimony like this is a great way start a Gospel conversation with family and friends about the eternal hope found in Jesus. For more ways to share, visit our website at sharelife.today.

On a Scale from 1 to 10
Tuesday May 13, 2025
Tuesday May 13, 2025
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Let me ask you a question...on a scale from one to ten, how fulfilling would you say your life is? What makes it that number? And would having more of a relationship with God make that number go up or down? These are some really impactful questions we can use when talking with our family and friends about God. They’re opportunities for them to share about their lives and their thoughts on having a relationship with Christ. I have to tell you...I've asked these questions a lot. And most of the time, people share with me that they think having more of a relationship with God would actually make their life more fulfilled. And I get to tell them that Jesus Himself said that in John 10:10, "I have come that they may have life and have it to the full." The evidence is in my very own life! That certainly happened to me. What a great way to start sharing the Gospel. For more ways that you can start conversation with the Gospel, visit our website at sharelife.today.

God Stories
Monday May 12, 2025
Monday May 12, 2025
Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
Have you ever been unsure on how to start sharing the Gospel? Maybe you are ready to talk about spiritual things with the people in your life, but you're just not sure how to bring it up. Well this week, I’d like to share with you some “springboards” that can help you start a spiritual conversation. One of the best ways to begin is by telling our friends how having a relationship with Christ has changed you for the better. We call these “God stories.” And the more we walk with Christ, the more we have these we have to share! Start by telling them something you have seen God do in your life, like a change He's brought about, an answered prayer, or even a restored relationship. End your God story with a statement of confidence that you have concerning Heaven and eternal life. And this will open the door to sharing more!
