Why do we share the Gospel? Well, the simplest answer is because Jesus told us to. After He showed Himself to the disciples and many others after His resurrection, He left them with the Great Commission. "Therefore go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.” Christ gave every follower of His a purpose before ascending to heaven—He called us to go and tell people the Good News of the Gospel. And through people coming to know Him, Christians are formed and begin to grow in their faith. What a privilege and calling we have! And the best news is we don't have to do it alone. Share Hope

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
"Trusting in what Jesus has done for me has brought me peace, hope and a future I can feel joyful about." Michele penned these words in her testimony on what's my story dot org. Before she had eternal life, Michele dealt with a lot of guilt and shame that caused her great anxiety and depression. But someone invited her to church where she heard the Gospel; and that day, her life was changed forever as she accepted Jesus as her Savior. And you know what? There are a lot of Michele's out there, looking for hope. And we know the source of all hope—Jesus Christ, who through his sacrifice on the cross offers us eternal life. Means of Growth: Witness

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
There are five primary means of growth to help your spiritual walk. Bible. Prayer. Worship. Fellowship and, finally, Witness. I was recently in the same room with a brand-new grandmother. You’ll never guess what she wanted to talk about…along, of course, with copious pictures. I was recently in the same room with a sports fan and you’ll never guess what he wanted to talk about! My point is that we talk about the things which are important to us. So, you could conclude that some Christians don’t talk about Jesus because He’s not very important to them. As you become more and more involved in the first four means of growth—Bible, Prayer, Worship, and Fellowship—Jesus Christ will become more and more important in your life. You’ll naturally want to talk about Him. Witnessing is simply telling others about Jesus and why the Bible says Jesus needs to be important to them. National Day of Prayer

Billy Graham so famously said, "True prayer is a way of life, not just for use in cases of emergency. Make it a habit, and when the need arises you’ll be in practice." As we work through the means of spiritual growth this week, I wanted to encourage you to start with prayer. Is it a habit for you? Are you lifting up others in your families, circles, communities, cities, and nation to God? Prayer is one of the greatest privileges of having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. The Bible is God speaking to us, but prayer is us speaking to God. If I could encourage you with anything right now, it would be to pray for the lost around you and be prepared for God to use you to bring others to Him! Means of Growth: Fellowship

Did you realize there are five different means to help you grow spiritually? I want to talk about fellowship today. How do you define it? Well, you know, I heard someone say, “two or more fellows in the same ship.” You know, when I first heard it, I thought it a bit corny. But, it does get to the heart of the matter of spiritual fellowship. Here, I think, is the main point. Through calm seas or crashing waves, these people are in the same ship together. They need each other…depend on each other…encourage each other…challenge…support each other. Christian fellowship is all of these plus praying for one another, caring for one another and developing friendships with one another. Perhaps this is behind the promise of the Gospel that where two or three believers are gathered together, Jesus is in their midst. Means of Growth: Worship

Worship—it is easier to describe than define. There are five means of growth that help us growth spiritually. Bible…Prayer…Worship…Fellowship…Witness. Today, I want to talk about what it means to worship. To worship God is to honor, reverence and adore Him—giving Him the supreme place in our lives. Worship deepens our relationship with our Lord. Let me emphasize two important avenues of worship. Personal, private worship is a daily investment of time that pays an amazing dividend. With your Bible and your prayer list, this one-on-one encounter with Jesus is rich and rewarding. It’s the place where His grace and strength comes into our lives every day. Corporate worship is a gathering together of God’s people at church to engage in prayer, music and teaching of God’s Word. Taken together, these two provide for a necessity of spiritual growth. Means of Growth: Bible

Have you tried to read any product labels recently? Talk about complicated! You may have noticed that the more advancement we make in life, the more complicated things become? Unfortunately, the same complicated approach is infiltrating our spiritual lives too. So, it’s time to get back to the basics. The product label on the Spiritual Growth package contains five words:  Bible, Prayer, Worship Fellowship, Witness. First, we want to focus on the Word of God–the Bible. The place to begin is your commitment to read the Bible. The Bible describes itself as “God-breathed, useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. It’s indispensable for our growth in the Lord. Start in the Gospel of John. Read a chapter a day. Read more if you want to, but just get in the habit. Move next to Acts. Then keep going from there. John 3:16

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life." You’re probably very familiar with this verse! However, we couldn't leave a Scripture memory week without sharing John 3:16. This verse has reached so many hearts with the love of God and the sacrifice of His Son for us. "While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." John 3:16 shares that if we place our trust fully and completely in Jesus, He gives us the free gift of eternal life. Wow. Even almost thirty years into my walk with God, that still fills my heart with joy and wonder. That the Creator of the universe loved us so much to send His Son to die in our place...as a father, there are no words to describe the magnitude of that gift. Join us in memorizing John 3:16 today. 2 Corinthians 5:20

Hi, I’m John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you’re listening to Share Life Today.
What would you say has been the most formative thing that you were told as a child? Did a parent instruct you "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you..."? Did a grandparent say, "If you don't work, you don't eat?" Whatever it might be, as a child of God—it works just the same. The Words our Creator God gave us in the Bible changes us and helps us live a righteous life in obedience to Him. And through our obedience to grow in Him, we experience the fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. And as we let God's Word instruct us on how to live, we’re transformed to be more and more like Jesus. So join us today as we memorize 2 Corinthians 5:20, "We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf: Be reconciled to God." Ephesians 5:1-2

As we continue our Scripture memory challenge this week, I want to explore another reason why it's important to hide God's Word in our heart: knowing Scripture helps you help others. We live in a world full of opinions and voices. And the truth is, our opinions can't change any one. Praise God we have the Holy Spirit living in our hearts, and HE can change lives. And God's Word also stirs the hearts of people, as the Bible tells us in Hebrews, "For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart." So today, let's memorize together Ephesians 5:1-2, "Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us..."
